Valve Adjustment (Worth it!)

I finally got around to adjusting my valves after 100 miles and I have to say anyone who hesitates about doing their valves shouldn't. It made a huge difference, the engine just feels more broken in or something. I can't really explain it the way an expert would, but I swear my bike feels nicer.

The Brozz is happy

I adjusted both valves to .05mm (Cold)

When I change my oil at 600 miles I am going to adjust both valves again to .07mm

I hope you mean you adjusted to .05mm cold. .005" would be huge.

It's almost like we know what we are talking about when we say to do it

Yes, you are correct, I did .05mm, was super thin, though I just realized now I did my adjustment backwards. I should have set the lash at .07 for break in, then went to .05 after.

Do you think it would be fine to just live with it?

Should be ok. Just check it again at your next oil change

I made my butler Hop Sing adjust the valves on my Chinese Brozz, He seemed like a natural at it. I ride my bike around the county eating Grey Poupon mustard straight from the jar.

I normally couldn't afford one, but I ordered him from Wish.com for $49.99.. He took forever to arrive, but for the price I can't complain.

You should have seen the facebook group post yesterday with the "motorcycle mechanic" who gets 6 or 7 of these in every month for setup and says you don't need to adjust the valves until 500 miles.

Good on you for setting them and setting them to the correct spec too!

And that's true, IF the factory or dealer sets them for you.
Here the chinese motorcycle come with the valves already set and you need to adjust them at 800/1000 km. Even you can find that in the user manual.

But for what i gathered here, from reading a few post. It seems they are not set or atleast not set correctly in the ones sold in the US.

In the US, converse to expectations, for the cheaper Chinese bikes, like the TBR7, Hawk, etc., we get stuff specc'd as cheaply as possible, with virtually no dealer involvement, possibly because they're cheap enough that real dealerships don't want to get involved, in spite of the massive profit margin.

Once you realize that wrenching on a China bike is not rocket surgery or brain science you have crossed the bar, and will likely move on to other esoteric things like adjusting clutch cables, lubricating moving parts, and earning the equivalent to ~$70 per hour. Bike 'mechanics' at SOME shops will only get more jealous, and maddened that they are not taking money from you...

They used to have an old saying about valve lash being too tight. "Valves are like kids, they are usually causing the most damage when they're the quietest."

Not here... the inventory in the US is almost always set incorrectly, usually at zero lash, which I get it, it's the fastest way to assemble it in the factory, screw them in by hand until snug and tighten the locknut.

But it's totally wrong and does no favors for the owner once they get it.

You're fortunate that they are commonly set for you. Here, we have nearly zero dealer support for such things.

And even this is an understatement. Not only is there zero dealer type support, but most motorcycle shops won't even look at them.
