Broke 8 spokes on rear wheel hawk 250dlx efi
Should I just buy a new wheel for 175$?? From what I know it’s pretty hard to get a wheel true on your own..

This is for bicycles but the basics are the same. Having a tension gauge is a big help. I have not done a motorcycle wheel in over 50 years.

If you don't mind spending a bit more ($175 is too much for a wheel that will probably fail in a similar way) , I'd send it to Buchanan's out west and have them build you a when with better spokes and a stronger, aluminum rim. http://www.buchananspokes.com/categories/rims.asp
If you do go through them, tell them it's for an XL185, assuming you have the 4 bolt sprocket and it's a drum rear hub. |

I've heard that truing a wheel is tough, too -- but somehow i've done several with never a problem. Give it a try.

I'm pretty sure the rims are close, but your hawk uses a disc brake and the XL185 uses a rear drum.
If it were me, i think I'd buy a new wheel and maybe try replacing the old old as a spare.
