Instrument cluster/position light lighting up when applying brakes?

My Zongshen Sierra always had this peculiarity, which I noticed almost right away as soon as I got it, as I swapped the burned out instrument cluster light and front position light with LEDs.

When applying the brakes (either front or rear), even with the main light switch off, I noticed my instrument cluster would light up, and the front position light would also light up. TBQH I never thought much of it, and rode like this for more than a year. I even measured battery current at rest for leaks, but IIRC they were undetectable.

When I recently swapped back the instrument light with an incandescent, it apparently stopped doing that....or rather, it wasn't as noticeable: the speedo would still glow ever so slightly, and you could really only tell at night.

Then it occurred to me: I had also swapped the rear 2-in-1 21W/5W bulb with a LED replacement almost since the beginning. Now that I think about it, I'm not really sure it has that great of an isolation between the "position" and "brake" modes (same LEDs, just driven harder), so it could very well be that it passes some current back to the rest of the position/instrument light circuit as well.

With an all-LED setup, even that small leakage current is enough to light up everything else in the same circuit.

Hmm...probably I kind of answered my own question here, but has anyone else noticed anything similar after applying LED retrofits?
