New to forum. New owner of XPro Templar 250X

New Member. Long time listener. Hi. Been messing with my own new Chinese bikes for a year or so. Have worked on them over the years. 20+ year Motorcycle technician so I’ve seen probably most you can imagine.
I just put together a XPro 250 x and have some things I’ve discovered that may help someone.

Welcome. Also na X owner. One of my early jobs was as a tech in a Yamaha dealership starting around 1982. Did you see the two big Templar X thread sin the Dual Sport section?

Sounds good. I'm all ears !!
Me and my son just put a blue one together. He rides it to work and to the gym daily now. VERY happy guy.

We warmed it up for a few minutes and changed the oil, but the oil that came out looked good. I don't think that was necessary. Maybe they are putting better oil in these now.

We rejet it and shimmed the needle in the carb, with drilled out/exposed airscrew set at 1 and a half turns out. I didn't have a 125 main, so it still has the 120 in there, but he is not running WOT now, anyway. We will wait and see (I did get the 125 jet in a new set, in case). Runs perfectly. Needs choke to start when cold for a few moments, which is exactly how it should be.

We took our time rerouting wires and cables and spent lots of time fitting the wiring connections behind the headlight "cafe fairing". It's tight. We installed ~1" extending brackets on the upper mounts to provide more room up there. It helps!

I lowered the thing with him with new lower rear shock mounting hole (5/8" shorter), shimmed the front forks up a bit, and shortened the kickstand. This dropped the bike a solid 2" and he loves it!

I need to post the picks in the Templar thread. What did you find on yours?
