chain and sprocket clearence
i finally got around to changing out the sprockets and chain on my hawk yesterday, I got a 45 tooth on the rear and settled with a 16 tooth on the front.
I replaced the chain with a DID Xring chain which is slightly wider than the stock one. I tried a 17 tooth on the front but the chain was into the case pretty hard, more than i would be comfortable grinding out. has anyone done this and how much can i safely grind out without causing any other issues? |

that worked out just fine i did have to cut out a piece of the cover to get it back on. i sure hope i dont have a chain break, there isnt a whole lot of room in there if the chain ever gets wadded up.
you mentioned that putting the bolts in from the back side would be a hassle, here is a little trick i use to start them, if you have a ratcheting box end you can use a piece of tape to hold the bolt in the wrench and it becomes hands free, just get it lined up with the hole and go easy til it starts, ive done this on other things and it works out pretty good. |
