Fixing a Hawk Butt
Back in July I was scouting for hunting and I'm not quite sure what happened but the back end of my Hawk started rubbing on the tire when I hit bumps. Somewhere along the way the plastic cracked and was hanging down. Again, not exactly sure how that happened since I don't ride it all that hard but I managed to fix it with a tourniquet and rode the rest of the summer like that.

Now that its full on winter here, and spring will be here....eventually, its time to take apart the hawks and get everything back the way it should be (or close enough). This was an interesting enough fix and not nearly as cool as some of the stuff you guys do on here but maybe this write up can help someone else out. I wanted a cheap fix for this. I ended up cutting up the cross bars from the crate the hawk was shipped in (I'm going to use more of the crate to mount the oil cooler eventually). Matched up the holes as best I could and drilled them. I ended up using washers and nuts and bolts instead of the original hardware holding the rear on. Hopefully it will work well enough since I don't want to spend money replacing the rear plastic.

Well done! I had similar issues with my roketa db07a, but mine had broken from a vigerous off road session over washboard...LOL some zipties got me home, and then it all got reinforced with 1"wide 1/8" thick steel strapping down the insides of the tail with a few bolts.

Nice fix. You can replace it with the TT250 rear fender if needed. https://store.cscmotorcycles.com/TT2...NDER-s/338.htm

Wedooit- We are good. I dont know how you guys have time to ride, work, work on stuff, live, and be able to post all the cool stuff you guys are up too! Once spring hit we got busy, now that it's full on winter I am back since I am working on our bikes. I need to post more on here with some hopefully helpful thing since I have learned pretty much everything from this site. Here are some pics of why I will not be riding for a bit....
If my butt falls off again I may take you up on purchasing yours NZ |
