Spring?
February is the start of decent weather here.
Roger and I went out for a hundred mile ride after I was done with work today (half day). He was on the KLR, I was on the KLX. It was warm enough in town but as we climbed it got colder. We eventually got to the area where snow recently melted and the dirt and gravel roads became muddy. Roger and I both run Dunlop 606's and they did fine, neither Roger or I biffed. I mentioned to Roger we though he looked like Dennis Quaid. He though there is a resemblence as well! 8)

I am grateful for my blessings indeed.
BTW don't get the impression it's warm here, it is not. Just good enough to enjoy riding with the proper gear on. In general all I'm looking for is above freezing and dry. Sunshine and lack of wind have been extra blessings as of late.

Open desert. We have a LOT of that here!
This particular area was a previously plowed dry wheat (non-irrigated) field with gravel and dirt roads running through it. Pretty easy stuff but fun none the less. There are areas here where you can look around, pick a direction that interests you, and just go :P . Cross country. Dodge the rocks, cactus, sage bushes, tumbleweeds and snakes and just go! Roger and I really like that type of riding. 8)

Thanks for posting the photos, Doc! I eagerly await the arrival of spring. The high temperature yesterday reached 45 degrees Fahrenheit, and a lot of the snow is melting around town! However, the trails are still covered with snow.

At the risk of putting The Lord to the test I think we are on the upswing here in the Northwest and you'll be riding the lower elevation trails befor long, and the streets even sooner! :P

The important factor limiting the riding season in East Idaho is the amount of snowfall during the winter. Last year the snowfall was light, so the riding season started 6 weeks early! If we can avoid much more snowfall in February, we might have a similarly long, beautiful riding season this year.
