need some measurments asap please

can some one with a beast and a digital form of measuring give me a exact measurment of the upper/lower control arm mounts center bolt to center bolt right arm to left arm ?

and confirm my measurment of 9 3/8 for the upper shock mounts ?

ive been talking to a company that sells kits on ebay for name brand quads to extend control arms and shock mounts by using plates that bolt to the stock mounts and then control arms and shocks bolt to the plates.. the plates go from say the left front upper control arm mount to the right front upper control arm mount.. it is one peice then the control arms mount to that.. i dont have a digital means of measuring this and these numbers need to be exact.. this company is willing to make kits for the gio beast and other quads that use the same frame. to extend the control arms out 2 inchs and move the upper shock mounts to the correct position.

the control arm mounts have that little tab that makes using a tape measurer not so exact on the measurments..

thanks guys

Mike, I say this with all respect:

Go buy a digital vernier caliper

You'll love this one: http://www.harborfreight.com/6-inch-...ngs-98851.html It's on sale for $14.99, and it does fractions as well.

Hmm.. see I think I heard that today too.

Most popular tool in my former career, could never find the damn thing in it's home, it was always beside someone else working.

Funny how I haven't managed to pick one up for myself since leaving.

ok so i dipped into my savings, kind of having buyers remorse about it but i made a trip to hf for some much needed new tools

21peice sae tap and die kit
multimeter
digital vernier caliper (altho i think i need to return it as even with zeroing it, it appears to be off)
3 new socket rails for all my spare spockets
4 1/2in angle grinder
6 different step drill bits
12 ratcheting wrenchs
grease gun
10 41/2in grinding discs
102 peice kit for the dremel
corded electric drill
2 different drill bit kits

will be going back once i make a list of other tools i need, but this is what i got after 2hrs of walking around the store trying to remember what tools i need more then others.

Once you have to repair something and think "Hey, I have the right tool to do this job" all remorse will be gone.

well i didnt ever really have a need for these tools when i was just working on cars. with cars you just need wrenchs, socket sets, o2 sensor socket, spark plug sockets..

but since getting the quad my demand for tools i never needed before has gone up

i almost walked out with a welder, auto shading welding mask and generator but i couldnt bring my self to speed almost 400 on those just yet..

Not sure why you bought 'sae' tap's and dies, everything on your quad will be metric. Might want to return those and exchange them for a metric set, unless you think you'll need them for something else.

ya they are getting returned for a different set that does it all in one bit..

drill, tap and clean the shavings using a power drill. i was thinking that having both sets metric and sae would be useful. but i would use the metric more..

Mike that sounds like a recipe for disaster. You really shouldn't 'power tap' anything unless you're using a drill press, even then it's only for seriously talented individuals. If you bust one of those off in a hole you're in for a nightmare. They are almost as hard as EZ outs.

Any drilling and tapping should ideally be done with a drill press, as it's very easy to tip your hole and not go straight. I realize that's not ideal for most but you should 'always' drive your taps manually with a tap handle and cutting lubrication. Taps bust easy.

didnt think about that turbo, thanks.. i will be going back tomorrow and exchanging them for a metric set and checking to see if they have any lube for the tap kit..

lol i really need a larger tool box, if i owned my own house instead of renting i would just do the whole peg board on the wall and hang what tools i could, but dont want to do something like that to a house i dont own.. or better yet if i owned my own house id buy a large shed and put a window ac unit in it and turn that into my work shop..

Any kind of oil will work for the taps and dies. Just simple lubrication. When I am cutting new threads I make a half turn forward and a quarter turn backwards. The backward motion cuts the shavings so that they dont jam up on you. Like was said, you dont want to break a tap in a hole.
