HiBird 250 sprockets

Stock gearing is 16 front and 46 back, which means gear ratio is 2.875. I want a gear ratio of 2.5 for highway, like JTF259.17 and JT269.43. Do y'all think a 17 up front would clear?

edit: The clearance between the 16-tooth with chain and the engine case is about 4mm.

Couldn't tell without the chain on, but it looks like a 17 would be ok.

Where can I find a JTF259.17? I've tried bikebandit, jcwhiteney, and denniskirk without luck.

You can call them and get a 17(more than likely). I had to call them and get a 43 tooth for the rear of my GY-5 because they didn't have it listed on the website.

The clearance between the 16-tooth sprocket with chain and the engine case is only about 4mm. If I install a 17-tooth, will I have to grind off some of the engine case?

a 17 wont clear without grinding a lot but i put a 40t on the rear and dropped about 1000 rpms and it runs great.it will cruise at 80 on the factory speedo, about 70mph acsual. mine is all stock with a 110 main jet. im gutting the pipe, installind an crf250 silencer, a clamp on uni filter and jetting up to a 115. ill keep yall posted. 8)

The plastic pad on the swing-arm wears out quickly with stock sprockets (16 front, 46 rear). I'm afraid if I use smaller rear sprocket, the pad will wear out even faster.

Hey willy, is the Hibird rear sprocket the same as Lifan's?

I'm confused by the different posts about the front 520 sprocket size. Some say use jtf-328; other say use jtf-1324. The two are very similar, within 1mm. I took my countersprocket off my bike and measured it with my plastic ruler. I'm not skilled enough for it to know which sprocket is a better fit. To y'all Lifan guys out there, which is the better fit front sprocket, jtf-328 or jtf-1324?

The jtf 328 will not fit the lifan counter shaft. I found this out, but trying the one that came on the xr200r on the lifan engine.

So you need to use the 1324 one. I will be ordering one to let you know how it fits.
