hi guys need some help plz! :)
my bro bought a 95' ninja 500ex bike and the guy he bought it from let it sit for like, 6 months, and now the carbs smoking a little because its all gummed up in it, what should i do?

I would start by removing the carbs and cleaning them good. The 500ex should only be two carbs.
Before you remove any of the mixture screws turn them in until they stop while counting the number of turns it takes. Right this down. Remove all the mixture screws and the bowls and then clean then with carb cleaner and compressed air if you have it. Also drain all the old gas and replace it with fresh. Multi-carb bikes need to have them synch for optimum performance. This requires a special tool. You can probably clean them and put the mixture screws back in to where they were and it should run pretty well. Also change the oil and sparkplugs. Clean the air filter and look for any mouse nests. If a cleaning doesn't work it is likely going to need the carbs rebuilt.

ok thanks a bunch bro! im going to pick the bike up today, about a 3 hour drive :P ill take some pics of it to show u. once again thanks for the info.
