Over 53,000 Miles on my Zong's Odometer
Yesterday I installed some grip heaters on my Zong, so I decided to take a ride to test them.
Here's a closeup of the Zong's dashboard where I installed the switch and the PWM (pulse width modulation) device for my grip heaters. If you look closely, you can also read the Zong's odometer which had recorded 53,395 miles at that point. If you are interested, you can read more about my grip heater installation at the following thread. http://chinariders.net/modules.php?n...wtopic&t=15652 The scenery was beautiful, but the high temperature only reached 55 degrees Fahrenheit. I was very glad I had installed my grip heaters. The snow is receding up the mountains, so I am hoping for a long riding season this year. With any luck, I will soon reach 55,000 miles on my Zong's odometer; it has been a great little motorcycle! In the next few days I plan to install some new mirrors on my Zong. After the mirrors, I might also install a tool tube. It's wonderful to greet the arrival of spring in Idaho. Spud

Great invention are grip heaters 8) . Your bike looks brilliant, cant believe the mileage on it as it looks so well. I have a Jawa 350 2 stroke with 103,000 miles. Pity so many people knock our bikes :( . Most that do have never ridden them.By the way stunning scenery and great off road country. What part of Idaho is this?

The Chinese manufacture excellent copies of small displacement, air cooled engines. Even in the Third World, no one can stay in business manufacturing motor vehicles with bad motors. These little bikes will last a very long time if they are maintained properly. I live in South Idaho, which is north of Utah, west of Wyoming, and south of Montana. I have ridden my Zong on multi-day trips to all those states. Spud

His two stroke is an AWESOME machine. I helped him purchace it and logged a little saddle time on that lightweight flyer. :P

Indeed, the Zong is no longer my only mount, so I don't ride it exclusively. Nevertheless, I still plan lots of saddle time in the Zong, since it's a great little motorcycle, and works very well for 90 percent of my normal riding.
The KDX220 is also a great bike! Thanks for helping me to acquire it, Doc. Alas, I do plan to sell the KDX220, since I prefer the wider, smoother powerband of the CRF250X. I also like Little Red's high tech suspension, headlight, aluminum frame, and most important, electric starter (with kick start backup)! Spud

Beautiful pics with the mountains in the background... I never get tired of looking at them .
Your Zong is testament to use and maintenance. Ride 'em and take care of them and they will last forever 8). |
