Wandering idle, stalling

My newer 2022 and 1/2 Templar X has a drifting idle speed. And has a tendency to stall. I can defeat this by raising the idle (the stalling).

My guess is an intake leak. I was initially thinking float bowl level, but that doesn't make sense for the symptoms really.

The OEM smoothbore card runs great across the throttle range. I did bump pilot and main one step. When it was warm out, it started instantly with one touch, and 1/8th. throttle. Now that it is cold, it needs a bit of choke to start. The symptoms seem worse. This makes sense if too much air is getting in... Leaky intake.

Any other ideas??

Thinking that since colder air is denser air, it is behaving the same as an intake leak; i.e., more air than gas. That said, maybe you do have an intake leak, so you could try squirting some soapy water around the intake parts to see if you get any change, or bubbles. After that (if no change), I would try going up one main jet size to see if that compensates for the colder air.

Curious to hear Megadan's and others' opinions, as I am not a carb expert.

If you suspect a intake leak you could spray a little starting fluid in the area of the leak. If the motor ramps up then you have found the leak.

Of course. Got some. Excellent advice. I forgot about this. Revving response to starting fluid between the carb and cylinder is an instant diagnosis

Float has some trash in needle and seat maybe.
