Da Bronda
I picked up the ebay Briggs powered Honda yesterday. The seller was me in about fifteen years, 80 tears old and getting rid of some of his toys. Kind of a talker and showed me pictures of himself riding it around. Gave me some history on it, too. His best friend build it some time in the 90s'. He bought it in 02 and the issue date on the title matches that.
As it was a million degrees outside, I didn't take any pics when I picked it up. I didn't get home until late because I had to take slowpoke US30 home. Damn Chevy is stuck in 4WD(God, I hate modules, solenoids, and stepper motors on transfer cases.) And i got home in the middle of a downpour. So pics later today after I get some help getting it off the truck.

So here's some pics.
The engine is from 1991, so the conversion could have been done anywhere between 20 and 30 years ago. And it was a CB750F. Now I just need for the damn rain to stop so I can get this beast out of the truck.

I guess I missed it somewhere but how many horse is it? Just thinking of a possible Chonda conversion from HFT. They make tons of performance parts for those.

From the looks of the decals on the side panels on the motor it looks like it is a 12 hp.

Shades of Solex, it's friction drive.
Driver wheel. Silver thing with the rubber bits on it. Half moon thingy in the center is the driven wheel. Farther from center of the driven wheel, the faster you go. To a point. Still haven't gotten the beast out of the truck.

Doesn't look that bad at all. Lots of potential.

That drive train appears to be well thought out, if poorly executed. The clutch lever moves the driven wheel away from the the driver wheel by pulling the transmission back. Because a lot of springs are used, there is a heck of a pull on the clutch lever. I did it five times in a row yesterday and that was enough. From what I can see, there are no bushings or bearings on the pivot shafts. I am giving serious thought to replacing the cable set up with hydraulic.
Other things I've found, the engine is of 422 cc displacement and is not stuck. So yay! I've downloaded the manual for it and it's has 172 pages! And nowhere does it say "Contact Your Nearest B&S Dealer". The tires hold air but replacing them is a given. Front and rear brakes work but will get overhauled. It has air forks that, if the mounted gauge is to be believed, are still holding 10psi. The guy that built the rig was an IBEW electrician and did a marvelous job of wiring it but, as it was done something like 30 years ago, most of the splices are done with wire nuts. Those will be soldered and heat shrunk. The gas tank. Eww! It has almost 20 year old fuel in it. I THINK I can save it. It took a hammer, punch, and wd40 to get the cap off. I don't know if what's in there will even burn. I can get a replacement petcock for $12, so I won't even bother messing with that. And the above was done with it STILL sitting in back of the truck. I figure there's a 50% chance of dropping it and have it land on me if I unload it by myself. There's a 100% chance of that happening if Mrs. C helps. Jake, who could probably lift it by himself, is coming by this evening to give me a hand.

I'm really interested to see where this goes. The closest thing I've ever seen to a diesel powered motorcycle was something that was worked up for the special operations teams in the military. It had an engine that was re-worked to burn jet fuel, so that they could refuel in the field and wouldn't have to carry specialized fuel. It never really caught on because the operators thought it was underpowered and entirely too heavy.

The Diesel Project has been on hold for awhile. I've been run ragged, the Jeep has been a dick and required a lot of work so I can unload it next year and it's been freaking hot and wet. I think the only reason the skeeters haven't been bad as they burst into flames.
