Paladin 300 possible dead fuel pump
With 7 miles on the odometer the fuel pump died on me, I think they copied KTM's design. Felt just like when you leave the petcock off on a carbureted bike. Checked all the fuses, nothing blown. When you turn the key to run you'll hear the fuel pump priming the system, now I get nothing. I'll let you know how difficult it is to warranty this.

Should be an easily waranteed item. Make a short video and offer a link if they want evidence. PSM always takes care of this kind of thing.
I just took a ride. Lots of fun including some offroad berm busting. The cat gets HOT. I am going to make an offset shield AND wrap. and, I typically blip the throttle to match downshift rpm, but EFI doesn't respond in that time frame. I had exactly the same experience on my neighbor's KPX and my Suzi Bandit 1250 (lesser extent). It is a sampling rate issue. It isn't a real problem. It is a learning curve. This is a case where my brain is faster than the computer Fortunately, I can anticipate, twist the throttle before I want the rpm blip. This engine has powerful engine braking. It is way more than the 172FMM zongshen. It is useful, but again, learning curve. The simple answer is don't downshift as early as you used to

I am still waiting on PSM to get back to me, I can see that they have watched my videos several times now. The harness side plug gets power, so we're good there. I believe the pump has an internal short, it just heats up my test plug wires instantly when 12v is applied directly.

Oh man that is a bummer. Hopefully they will get one out to you soon. Did you speak with someone on the phone about the issue? I know this is a warranty situation, but is it a fuel pump that is readily available elsewhere if needed down the line?

Sorry to hear as well.. that’s kinda my worry when it gets more complicated with ecu’s, fuel pumps, injectors.. it’s one thing finding a $20 carb online but that makes things a little trickier for sure, but I’m sure PSM will take care of you as they have for me when I had issues as well as many others I’m sure that can vouch for them.

Well, obviously can't run it connected or it will heat up and melt wires in the harness. Gee. It is fortunate you have the skills to test/apply 12V to the pump.

Yes, I have but really the best way to get technical support as I am learning is through their technical service request on the PSM website. Quote:
I agree with you. PSM is going to give me an update next week. I've got five other motorcycles I can ride so really not a big deal to go without riding the Paladin. Quote:
I don't think we ever have to worry about the wiring harness being melted. The pump isn't supplied a constant 12v, it cycles itself. I think once pressure is reached it cuts power and then supplies it intermittently as needed. With the pump disconnected and my multimeter plugged into the harness side I see 13v at startup when it attempts to prime the system. After a second or two it stops supplying any voltage, if you crank it voltage(12v) is supplied again, if you leave the key in the on position the power will just stop being applied. So it knows when something is up. |

Not sure if you sent your request to this address. This is the one Zora answers
Zora seems to be the default responder, and I usually get a response between 1am and 5am. service@maxpro-llc.com

Zora sounds like help desk located out of country. Could be AI....

The actual support for the help desk is located in China. It is getting to be frustrating dealing with them, I have narrowed down the problem exactly. In return they send me a video talking about the fuel pump relay which I don't have a problem with because mine works. I would buy my own pump at this point but they(Zuumav) won't send me a parts list with a part number.

I had a few instances in the past where something failed and i went thru Zora.. it sometimes took a few email exchanges pics, videos in some cases, where they finally would either identify the correct part or eventually provide a part list for me to identify it. Just stay the course and they should eventually get you whole. Also, make sure to mention that you are writing reviews of your experience here, that usually helps them get motivated to resolve quickly as well. This forum probably provides most of the traffic to the vendors so its in their best interest for us to keep sending them business

I have to wait for a fuel pump to be sent from China to X-Pro.
Yes, that video was made for me. I'm not sure why they check the engine codes the old OBD-1 way when it has an OBD-2 port under the seat that can read DTC's just fine. The dead pump is still installed in the tank, I won't be removing it until the new one is in hand. |

Here is a photo of the Power input and fuel line output connections on a 2022 KPX. The pump is inside the tank. Most fuel pump these days are mounted inside the tank. If you look at fuel pumps for sale, they look like sealed cylinders with a seal/flange that it mounts to the tank with. In this case (the KPX) you see the 4 bolts holding it up against the tank. So the entire pump is hidden. These connections are EASY to disconnect, with pinch locks on both of them. If you have a fuel level sensor, that is removed while you lift off the tank from the frame.
