Sublette County Fair
Thinking about racing the Hawk at the fair on Wednesday. My guess is it's a time-trial type of deal. If I do, I'll get video. Just picked up a GoPro Hero 11 Black.

Well, I went and done it. Here is just the race. I have way more footage...but I have run into the limitations of my computer. I will be focusing on updating this sucker soon. I had such a freakin' blast, man!!

Went ahead and updated my computer:
MOBO: Asus B450M-A II mATX Form Factor CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600; 6 Cores/12 Threads RAM: 32 GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 3200MHz (upgradeable to 128 GB) SSD: 1TB Kingston NV2 PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 3500MB/s PSU: Thermaltake Smart Series SMART 500W All sourced from Amazon and came to roughly $400. Was able to re-use my Dell Inspiron 530 case with barely noticeable modification and basically built a "sleeper". I brought the computer from 17 years old to about 4 years old. I installed Windows 10 and see that Micro$oft is up to their typical shenanigans with price-point and lumping it with Windows 11. Gates is disgusting.

The "racing" or the building of the PC or both? You ever do either?
The "racing" was definitely a blast. The PC building, if you know what you're doing, is pretty easy and I did an all-nighter, which is a blast in it's own nerdy way and something I haven't done in like 20 years. Now my PC rips and I can get to some video editing and I have something that will run Microsoft Flight Simulator (Xbox One S is about as old as my PC was). Further, there is a new game I can't wait to try called Body Cam that is only available for PC.

I've never entered any formal events on a motorcycle. I just want to find better trails. I'll probably have to move to the mountains for that!
I got into building computers long ago. First thing I did was swap in a 486 33DX processor, replacing 33SX, adding floating point to a 33MHz system, then added memory. Kind of basic stuff. But my early full buildswere based on PIII chips in BX series mobos that were easy to overclock with jumpers on the chipset to multiply the base clock and increase speed on the FSB then more advanced stuff. My last build was a dual Xeon server with two ten core processors with Hyper threading and 128Gb memory for a work related database searching program. Desktop at home is an i7 based 6 core with a 6Gb Nvidea based Zotac GTX 1060 video card on an ASUS mobo. It's getting long in the tooth but so am I

lol@"jumpers on the chipset"!! Man, that is some old stuff.
Last and only build was a Pentium 4 around 2003ish? I think the board was Intel, could've been GigaByte. All I know is I spent more on the GPU than any other component. All to play Battlefield 2!! This time around, I just watched Linus Tech Tips. That guy has got diarrhea of the mouth, but his builds are SICK! If you noticed, I did not list a GPU. Still doing some homework on that, so I'm running an old AMD Radeon HD 5450. It was on the old Dell board and does ok. I'm currently uploading a new vid. I'll post it here when it's done.

Whoa, that sounds like a blast! Racing the Hawk at the fair on Wednesday? You gotta do it! A time-trial type of deal, huh? Can't wait to see the video, especially with your new GoPro Hero 11 Black! Make sure to mount it securely and get some sick footage! Good luck!
