Lifan 164-FML / PZ30 Carb Question

I have a 2008 Wildfire dual sport with a 200cc Lifan 164. The carb had issues and needed rebuilt, so I pulled it and it is a PZ30.

While I have it off, I am considering whether I should upgrade to something else. I also considered whether to scrap the bulky air box and cut down to one of the cone filters but I know that box can protect from water etc.

I like the screw adjustments on the nibbi and have also heard a lot of people using Mikuni.

Any opinions here about it? Should I just replace w another pz30 or is it worth it to upgrade?

note: I do not do any heavy duty or high performance riding - probably just light trails and back roads stuff. Might put it on the road for in town.

One other Q: For the Nibbi carbs, my own research seems to point me toward a PE28 as opposed to 30.

My Lifan engine is brand new and I don't intend to port or modify so would a PE28 work well for my engine?
