New member from Las Vegas
In the last few months, the Mrs. and I relocated to Fabulous Las Vegas from Southern California and I turned 60 (how the heck did that happen?). With all of the open country and dirt roads in Southern Nevada, a 250 dual sport was a "must have" item so I started contacting Honda / Yamaha / Suzuki / Kawasaki dealers and was pretty dismayed with their responses. The general attitude was "come to the store and be ready to pay over MSRP plus a huge prep fee", so I looked at used bikes and found most to be ridden hard and not really worth the asking price.
Plan C was to take a closer look at Chinese bikes and I eventually settled on a CSC TT250. I have placed my deposit and am looking forward to the delivery. I've had a bunch of motorcycles over the years and this one should (I hope!) be exactly the right tool for the job. |

Welcome aboard! You won't be sorry for your decision on going with the TT250. It's a mental thing that lots of people have about these bikes being china junk. If you maintain them as well as you would any high dollar Jap bike they will last a long time. My oldest Chinese ATV is about 7 years old, My Hawk 250 and UTV are roughly 5 years old plus i have recently bought another. All these vehicles have been well maintain and other than replacing normal stuff like oil, brake pads and a battery here and there they have ran flawlessly.

Welcome aboard. If you use these bikes for their intended purposes... 50/50 light street/light trail use they are great. It's when you try to use them for purposes outside of that (think long highway or mx track) that their shortcomings appear. I think of mine as a very small adventure bike.

I generally enjoy fiddling around with my toys anyway, so doing a little maintenance here and there will not be an issue. In doing my research, it appears that a lot of the smaller "Japanese" bikes have China-built engines anyway and many are assembled in Thailand. So much for "made in Japan". My Suzuki TU250 claims to be built in Japan but it sounds like the engine was made by Jinan Qingqi in China, so it seems that I already own a Chinese motorcycle and didn't even know it. I was in China a couple of years ago and was amazed by the sheer number of motorcycles and scooters on the streets. If they were all truly junk, the workforce would have a tough time showing up to the office every day.
One big benefit of getting older is that I care even less now about what people think than I did when I was younger. No "Chinese bike" stigma for me, that's for sure. |

Amazing how our mind set changes when we get older. (63)

About the 1st day I got my bike assembled I rode around my neighborhood and a couple kids(boys I'd say about 12yrs old) yell at me to do a wheelie. I just smiled and shook my head and thought "this turd wouldn't do a wheelie if I hung off the back, wound up the motor, and dropped the clutch". However with some tuning and the engine broke in, I can pull the front tire up at will in first gear without trying, and 2nd gear with allot of work... but still....
The motors aren't race engines and should provide thousands of trouble free miles... just check craigslist or ebay for used engines... nada. They are the best part of the bikes.

"Thousands of trouble free miles" is exactly what I need. I am long past the stage of life where I want a bike that can scream across the desert at 80 mph. I can ride as well as ever but I sure don't bounce like I used to.
By the way, we lived in Flower Mound for almost ten years. What a nice town. |

Check out the sticky at the top of the Dual Sport Section. Even though its for the Hawk, this thread has a lot of information that will pertain to the TT250 as well. http://www.chinariders.net/showthread.php?t=20331

Welcome! I am glad I finally have a replacement here. As far as I know I was the only active member from S. Nevada for a couple of years, but moved back to So. Cal. I loved riding in The Vegas Valley since highways were a bit slower compared to CA and many ways to avoid freeways altogether if need be. Plus, the dirt is never far away.
I am always interested to know more about the ties between Qungqi and Suzuki. The motor in my SSR xf250 (qingqi) is identical to the TU250x motor.
