Thumbs Up I Love My Wife

Mrs. C and I did our first annual Cucumber Run to Hebron, IL this morning and did it on the Ural. Early on in the ride, I was leaving a stoplight and a minivan was hard on my tail up to 50 mph. At the next light, I pulled into the left turn lane to wait for the arrow and the minivan is stopped in the thru lane. The minivan pilot rolls down his window and starts yelling that I should get that slow POS off the road and why can't I ride a real motorcycle. (I cleaned that part up a bit) Without missing a beat, Mrs. C yells back "You'll never be this cool driving a minivan." She smiled the whole time.

We ended up with a half bushel of cukes, half dozen ears of corn, and a package of cheesecurds. (Those are for me). Mrs. C is canning pickles tonight.

I'm gonna be thinking about her line today, while I'm driving my minivan.
*sigh*

I saw a guy riding his Ural with a side car on the Gulf freeway yesterday afternoon. He was bopping along 60-65 mph.

Ahh, the "real bike" crowd. I got something similar the other day from somebody at work with my Goldwing. Essentially, my bike will never be as good as a Harley, according to him. When I asked him where his bike - a 2007 Sportster - was, he responds that it's waiting for a part.

I just patted my false tank and said "42 years old, mostly original, and never let me down." I also got to point out the fact that it's more powerful and faster too, just to kind of seal the "better bike" deal. No response. Felt great.

Every time I am in a group ride, and there's a HD, it always croaks in the worst place. Almost every time, it has to be rescued. Some guys have even convinced their wives to drive the backup truck and trailer. HD's and group wrecks are why I quit participating in group rides.

I haven't had that experience with my hack yet, but people like that are the reason I would like to get the .50 Cal mount for the sidecar. People are crazy, that's all I can think. I'm sorry if you think that where you have to go supersedes anybody else's reason for being on the road... I can honestly say I think it's gotten so much worse in the past four or five years. I mean, honestly, what does it cost you to be polite?
