finding replacement bolts
hi
I did an inspection of my sky team v raptor (retro) 250 and saw a bolt was missing connecting the engine to the frame. I've heard of people replacing all bolts on the chinese bikes with stainless steel ones. Where would I pick up such bolts...a hardware shop? |

That's what I would do but NOT stainless steel.
Get an 8.8 grade or higher regular steel bolt. Stainless is not as strong, and I bet you'd have a tough time finding that size in stainless.

as far as the other bolts are concerned, they sell kits of assorted bolts in motorcycle shops, in plastic boxes, different ones, have a look and get a metric kit.
they are more or less overpriced, not sure if shipping from u.s. (or japan or china?) is cheaper. chinabike shops have kits of the cheaper non stainless green bolts you have on your bike, as they come with many bikes.

ask the people you bought the bike from to give you a kit. that s what i did and he gave me two.

yeah of course, south is up the top, where else would it be?
a sloth is hanging in the tree and seems to wear a frown but that only seems to be because he s upside down so in latin america they have the same phenomenon

Any bolt will work for that application, grade 5,8, 10 Just make sure you use a ny-lock nut or a lock washer to help keep it from loosening itself again. Motor fasteners(external cases and internal) you want to make sure it's a specific type. I second on the Stainless being a little too light duty - they tend to stretch a lot. Usually change out the bolts on my Harley case covers after a single use. They usually stretch to the point that you can't get a good torque value on them. You keep trying to get the correct torque and wind up either stripping the threads out or snapping the bolt off inside the case.
