Need Advice on Maintaining a Chinese Motorcycle for Long Distance Touring
Hello there,
I am planning to buy a Chinese motorcycle for long distance touring and would greatly appreciate your advice on the best models; maintenance tips; and general experiences. I have been researching various Chinese motorcycle brands and models but still feel uncertain about which one would be most suitable for long-distance touring. I am looking for a bike that is reliable; comfortable for extended rides; and has a decent fuel economy. Some models I have considered are the CSC RX3; the Bashan Brozz; and the Lifan KPM 200. Do any of you have experience with these models; or can you recommend other bikes that would meet my needs? One of my main concerns is the availability of spare parts and the ease of maintenance. How easy is it to find parts for Chinese motorcycles; particularly when traveling in remote areas? Are there any specific maintenance tips or common issues that I should be aware of to ensure the bike remains in good condition during long trips? Also If there is any personal experiences regarding the performance and durability of Chinese motorcycles over long distances. How well do they handle different terrains and weather conditions? Are there any modifications or upgrades that you recommend to enhance the bike’s performance for touring? Where in the world is this tour?
Is highway speed required? Will you be using roadside accommodation or tenting it? How long do you intend to travel? |

The CSC RX3 is a true touring bike, meant for long distance riding on asphalt or dirt roads. It should be the most comfortable, handle the most luggage, but uses the most gas and has the lowest top speed.
The Bashan Brozz is more made for off-road. It's more like a pit bike, you can flick around on potholes, tree trunks or dirt/mud roads, but probably isn't the bike for sitting long distances on. It's like a Hawk 250, which is passable, but not the most comfortable of the three. The Lifan KPM 200 is a street bike. It's not meant to go off-road. It's also the bike with the least amount of CC, but it has a lower profile, so it could result in the same top speed as the other two bikes. That might be important, as none of those bikes are recommended for USA highways. While they can reach 60-70MPH, in USA you need a water cooled and efficient 400cc engine the least, to be comfortable on the highways. But maybe in your area those bikes will do well on the highway, as over here we drive closer to 65-80MPH, while in many other countries you do 50-70MPH. The first bike is probably the heaviest of them all, and the last bike will be the easiest to pick up from a fall (lowest center of gravity). As far as reliability and things breaking down, the Lifan should be the best bike of the three, and I can only guess that the Bashan Brozz would fare the worst (most things breaking, or in need of fixing). |

Would need more details on what 'long distance touring' is to you? We've taken our Lifan KPX 250s on an 850 mile 3 day tour.. but it's not something I'd do all the time.
