Helene Aftermath - Members in the Path?

I'm wondering of any of our members have been affected by the devistation.

I'm farther east from it, so doing fine. we had a little bit of wind and removed a couple pieces of our siding, but that was about it. easy fix.

I have some friends in the upstate of SC. they were affected but doing well. Mostly issues with trees and electricity.

Areas in the mountains were really hit hard. most of the area is dependent on the tourism industry and it looks like it will be a long time before the infrastructure is repaired and recovery can begin.

I thought I'd call out to our members so folks can check in and let us know if they are ok, or if there is anything we can do to help. I'm only a few hours away and have my KLR plus my 4x4, so just holler if I can do anything to ease the situation.

Worked last 3 days over near Asheville on mutual aid assignment assisting their local agencies. It's a mess. It will be years before back to normal. Hundreds are cutoff from obtaining any necessities; what used to be a 30 min drive to nearest town is now a two day hike. It's not just downed trees blocking the way, entire sections of only access roads are just gone.

Hi, all. I live in Asheville, which one might call the epicenter of the destruction. Asheville sits at the confluence of the Swannanoa and French Broad, two powerful rivers fed by steep watersheds. I've lived here most of my seventy years and have seen floods here but nothing like this. Our family is all OK. Thankfully we suffered very little damage. We did lose power and municipal water, both of which may take a very long time to restore, especially the water. That will be the hardest to fix.

Maybe not Helene, but Milton is on its way to Tampa, close to where we are vacationing...
