Brozz 250 Fine Tuning

For any wondering about how to kick up the Brozz 250's power, gut your CAT & get a slip-on exhaust. Holy crap! I already had the CAT & part of my OEM muffler gutted (& exhaust wrap / tape), but with the new exhaust, I can not only hold my speed up hills, but also GAIN speed (w/ a 39t rear sprocket ~ not the 37t I had on previously); I'm 6' 9" & 240 lbs, btw.
(*Edit* I can hold my speed in 5th, whereas the previous exhaust system I still had to downshift to hold my speed up moderate grades; but the previous exhaust mod gave me noticeable power thru the first 3 gears).

Also... if anyone is trying to figure out how to "smooth" their shifts, try Lucas Oil Stabilizer (for motorcycles). I wasn't expecting much when I added a half bottle today, but holy crap! The Brozz shifts d*mn near like Jap dual-sport now! REAL smooth (both up & down), plus, no more "gritty" feeling in the engine at high speeds!

Between the exhaust & the Lucas, I can now cruise (comfortably) at 55-60 mph for HOURS (6 hrs, so far, is my longest, continual ride), with no hand tingly / numbness (from vibration). Got the bike up a little over 70 mph (GPS) today. I'm gonna try for a "downhill" run on the highway tomorrow, to push for 75 (I'd be REALLY surprised, but here's hoping).

I like it, looks sharp. Which Duffle Bag did you get? I really like that one.

Thx.

THIS one (the 20 in.)... b/c it was cheap, waterproof, & was small enough to fit behind me, but big enough to hold spare clothes (incl. winter-wear for cold rides), or gear (when I'm bike-packing).

I'll also be getting an AirHawk seat to replace the one I have on there now, to cushion my tailbone a bit more. I'll be making a post on it, if it turns out as well as I hope it does.

I've been meaning to do this for a while anyway, but I just finished typing up (& linking) all of my current mods & gear to a Google Docs page.

Should there be any mods you're interested in Idle, you'll find them (& a link to them) on that list: in my signature.

I love the mod list, and I want my duffle for the same purpose. Thanks

Yeah... REAL easy. I can upload a walk-through after you buy one, if you want.

Also... I've adjusted the list a bit more (w/ more maint. links & other info).

As a side note to the lucas stabilizer and your smoother shifts. That's because the lucas base stock is basically a 50 weight oil. Might be a good cause to try a 20w50 oil in the warmer months. I noticed the same thing with my shifts by installing my oil cooler and switching to 15w40 T6. The combo of those two was night and day.

Thx. It rides REALLY nice now. I'm VERY happy with it.

Funny you should mention that, b/c I'm already running 20w50, lol. I'm south of the Atl-area, so my oil becomes like water pretty fast, in the warmer months, lol. I didn't think about an oil cooler. Guess I'll run this stabilizer for a while, & if the heat down here STILL manages to thin it out, I'll look into a cooler. Thx for the idea.

As a side note, I'm running Lucas Synth. 20w50 + their stabilizer... & since it shifts smoother, even with the 20w50, it makes me think that their stabilizer is even heavier than 50 (esp. b/c the 20w50 looks like pancake syrup going in, & the stabilizer looks like cold honey, lol).

How's the sound level of that exhaust? Many have asked about quieting down the CRF exhaust (stonemen exhaust) but hadn't seen anyone try another exhaust style muffler as you have

Putting the factory muffler baffle into the Stoneman exhaust quiets it down off of obnoxious. I measured a 6dB drop at 10ft doing that.

But the restriction in the exhaust has a small but noticeable affect on power.

Yea i already went that route but i suspect the pressure on the backplate was a bit too much, got back home one day and found that the plastic cover fell off on the ride and the metal backplate was only held on with one bolt, so i ditched the baffle, spray painted the plate black and bolted back up.

It sounds amazing. It reminds me of my old TTR... or my old Polaris. Deep enough "rumble" to be heard on the road, but not so loud that my ears ring after a long ride.

I'll get a vid of it running, both with the DB killer in & out (I pref. it out).

HERE's a link to the vid of my Brozz running with the new exhaust (no DB Killer ~ that drops the db's by about 30-40% ~ the db killer is the "plug-like" thing I pick up & showcase at the end of the vid). See? "Nice & smooth"
