Yamaha PW50 clone

I picked up a PY50 for my little boy today. The guy had a PW50 as well but wanted a little more for it and it was older and uglier IMHO.
I really like the Kawasaki green color! I may look for some old blue Kawa seat vinyl to cover the seat with.
I like the green/blue/white scheme from the 90's.
Anyway... Here it is.
Anyone know who makes/made it?

they sell 2 shades of blue vinyl at Jo-Ann fabrics around here... I bought some and used it for a seat cover for one of my bikes... it wasn't priced bad either - $10/yard. (you probably won't even use 1/2 yard)

Is that foot peg a box steel tube?

We don't have a JoAnn but maybe Walmart or any upholstery shop will. Thanks for the price, gives me something to go on.

Good eye, yes it is. I'm sure the rubber pegs tore off. I'll fix'em in time.

Try a hobby lobby or a michaels crafts. Wal-mart carries a few shades too.

If you don't feel like replacing the vinyl most car stores (autozone) carry flexible spray paint made for painting soft vinyl. I used it to paint my GY-5's seats black. The paint looks good and doesn't crack when the seat is stretched.

That's an interesting idea... just curious - how is the paint holding up after having a butt rub on it for a while?

You can have a seat recovered with fresh vinyl in less time than it takes to paint one.... but if the vinyl isn't available, I guess ya gotta make do with other means.

I painted it about 3 weeks ago and have been riding it everday since then. So far the paint has held up very well. No cracks, chips, or wear marks yet. Painting the seat only took about 45 minutes to put 4 coats on, and was dry enough to handle in about 2 hours. One can was enough for 5 coats on a large seat.

The neighbor boy's dad heard me riding it and rode his 10 yr old boy's electric crotch rocket down to check it out. My wife and he had a drag race. Then his boy came down and I let him ride it. That little sucker can really move with a 60lb kid on it! LOL He loved it. Might have to let him ride it quite abit this summer to keep the carb nice and clean.

Sounds like a winner - keep me posted on how it holds over the summer (or if it starts to flake off)... because I could see me using paint like that for some things in the future.

For the vinyl cover time - I took the seat off, added/cut some foam to make it taller and cushier for my wife, and stapled the new cover on and had it back together in about 35 mins. (but I've done a few covers before - so that certainly helps.)

That is cool. I like the fact that it is shaft driven.
I wish my kids 125's were. Less hassle for me.

Actually that bike is manufactured in the same plant as the Yamaha PW50. These where sold by dozens upon dozens of off brand companies here in the US.
Xtreme is Xtreme ATV from Arizona http://www.xtrememotorco.com/ , that is the company that sold that one but they might not admit it.
United Motors, Trans-National Outdoor Power {under The Name Madami}, Terminator Scooter, SunL, and dozens of other importers sold this bike. They are basically a PW50 with differences so not to infringe upon copyrights. There are a lot of Yamaha parts that will work on the bike, everything on the engine is Yamaha.
I have {2} 2004 Brand New ones left, with The United Motors name & 3 yr. warranty on them, one Green & one Blue.
