Yoo's taller windscreen
After my last long ride, I identified several areas of improvement for the RX3, and one was the windscreen. Now, the stock windshield does provide surprisingly good wind protection for such a small screen, it really is remarkable. But it's noisy. It pushes the turbulent air up near the helmet and makes for a very noisy ride, which gets extremely tedious after a few hours.
Yoo makes (or adapts?) a taller windscreen for the RX3, it's about maybe 4" taller. I got one in a smoke color. The price is reasonable, but shipping cost as much as the shield itself, so about $100 delivered. I rode about 460 miles with it today, and I have to say, it is well worth it. There's great wind protection with no buffeting. The wind noise is definitely quieter than stock, and because the shield is significantly taller, it is much easier to duck behind it to get a perfectly smooth, perfectly quiet ride. Very happy with this upgrade! |

I looked at these from China as we do have something like it - yeah gets to $100 easily due to shipping size etc

There isn't really an order page, you just send him a message on Facebook. I don't have the link here (I am on a big RX3 trip right now) but I am sure someone else here can post it. If not, I will post it when I get back.

Ah, bummer. I'm not going to make a Facebook account just to order a screen.

No Facebook account necessary, you can email him directly at his yahoo account; it's "winyoochanok" and the email is his name@yahoo.com.
It's a pretty good screen. I just finished a 3,500 mile trip with it, and it's definitely got better wind protection and less noise when using earplugs. And if you do want to scrunch down behind it, it's quite a bit taller so it's much easier to get behind it. |

Thanks for the pic, that makes it obvious. Wonder how it compares to the clip-on deflectors? That has done very well for me also.

I would caution anyone considering this to re-think it based on your weather. Today was insanely humid, over 50%, and I was dying for more air. I have a stock shield and one of those add-on wind deflectors. My helmet was a steam bath, and I have a well vented helmet (Schuberth C3). I put the deflector as far down as I could which helped, but I wished I had the tool to remove it completely. A tall shield would have been unbearable.

Didn’t I also post options on screens awhile back?

Now I can't recall, maybe so. Might have been when the bike was new to me and I was on info overload. That's when I ended up getting a ton of parts from you. But after yesterday's ride, I'm staying away from a larger screen.

Lived in the hottest climates around, and when it's hot, no screen is better than having a screen. Airflow is key. I generally take the screens off my bikes for the summer months, unless travelling to a cooler climate.

I suppose a summer screen and a winter screen might make sense. It's not something I've ever tried before, but two of my bikes have had electrically adjustable screens which I loved.
