It looks very Ducati-ish.

It is pretty much a copy of a VTR250... except for the engine.
It looks like Lifan is putting the V250 that they use in their cruiser in that little Honda copy. I wonder if they will bring any to the USA and also wonder how much they will be pricing them at? If it is using the same engine they have in the cruiser then its only 18hp. If they priced it between $2,500.00-$2,750.00 it might sell, but bet that they will price it closer to $3,000.00 or we will never see it sold here. |

The Honda may still be in production? It was never sold in the USA and the bike had about 30hp. The Hyosung GT250 is about $3,500.00 and it actually has a 30hp engine. Lifan made a cute bike but I wonder if they realize the limit of that market here in the USA?
I would bet that if they offered it for $2,500.00 they would sell maybe a 100 or more of them, not kidding if they ask near $3,000.00 they should only bring over about 25 bikes and hope they can sell them. |

Hyosung has a GT650 to move up to and they are not doing that well, UM attempted the same with more offerings and failed and left the market.
If Lifan is attempting to get in with budget pricing they may, get a share, if they think that there is a market for 250 sport bike they would be right, there is but it is very limited and very competitive. The ninja 250 is the best selling single model in the USA but the number are not that high. Could be less then 1000 units a year, I am guessing but the actual sales number sold in the USA. I suspect are much less then most people think. |
