What xpro bike is best?

Im looking for a 250 x pro street legal dirt bike. Will be doing mostly street riding. Currently considering the hawk, titan, and Templar. Was wondering if the performance output differences were really noticeable and worth the price differences. The titan max weight also says 176 lbs compared to the others well over 300 so I was wondering if that was wrong. Also, I might consider having a passenger occasionally so I was wondering if these all already have passenger foot pegs or not. Thanks

I ended up going with the Templar X 6 speed a few months ago. I was wanting something that would do pavement for 70+ miles and then hit service/logging roads. It comes with the passenger foot pegs and rear fender rack and I added pannier racks, 80/20 tires, 40t rear sprock and a windscreen. Stock carb is a little finicky on cold starts but once warmed up it does fine. I've never owned or operated any of the others so can't speak on whether I made the right choice or not. Loving it so far though.

.. another note. From browsing these forums, it seems to be a dice roll on grief factor getting tags. When you order be sure to state you want the MCO as 'Motorcycle' not 'Off Road'. In Tennessee I had no problems.

I have the Storm DLX150 and love it, but I wanted a lightweight micro dual sport and not a 250 (I already have a 250). In many states, as long as your MCO says "motorcycle", you can get it registered for the road. However, you will have to check with your state's requirements at the DMV website. However, what I found to be more helpful is to go to a motorcycle dealership and ask them what your state's DMV specifically requires to get a bike registered for the road. They are usually pretty helpful with stuff like this as they have to do inspections on motorcycles every day.

I bought the Hawk 250 last summer. I love it, but I'm already saving up for a Templar. Templar has quite a few things going for it over the Hawk. It's an actual 250 (249.5 or something), it already has LED lights and digital dash, USD forks, nicer brakes. I hear it's tight to work on, like getting the carb in and out, but I'll deal with that.

Do you know if the regular Templar, not x, has passenger foot pegs?

The Hawk and it's adjacent cousins are much better road bikes. The other bikes have better hardware for off-road. I love the big fuel tank on the Hawk, but that's a personal preference. If they could fit a 3.5 gallon tank to a bike like the Templar X, best of both worlds.

Im considering buying a chinadualsportbike but its hard to tell what the differences between the hawk, titan, templar are.

Is there a thread on here that explains the differences, or would anybody care to elaborate?

i have basically similar questions as OP.

Are there other brands than x-pro that should be considered?

As opposed to a dual being something like 60% street or something. I'm well aware that a Hawk or TBR7 would probably suit my actual riding habits much better (mostly street) but...the Templar drew me in with its design and styling and I'm still stuck on it. The 223 CG clone engines in the Hawk and TBR7 make 14hp. The 223 engine is a solid and dependable pushrod valve copy of an old Honda engine (expired patents).

The true 250 in the Templar and the KPX make about 20hp. The OHC head allows tighter tolerances on the valves and they are very stable. But that 5 additional horsepower is nice to have on the road. If the KPX and Templar are too tall, you can lower them. We know how to do it on the Templar already, and folks are looking into the KPX. Suspension on the Templar is fully adjustable.

Titan has an OHC variant of the 223cc engine. I think it's rated at about 17hp. Titan is also a tall enduro oriented bike, but I am sure it could be lowered.

Tires are available in street, dual purpose and full knobby in the wheel sizes on these bikes (with some limitations, uncommon sizes).

The Templar is best, if it wasn't for the seat. A true 249cc bike (not sure if it's fuel injected or counterbalanced).
Not really a very nice street bike for long distances.

The Lifan Xpect 200 is second in my opinion. Higher quality bike, better seat (though not great), at the cost of 25-30 less cc than a hawk, or 50cc le# than a Templar, with a close second being the KPX 250.
The kpx250 is the better bike, but more expensive, heavier, and also the seat isn't as good as the Xpect.

Third would be the Hawk DLX. Decent bike with best seat for longer rides,but cons is more expensive.

For longer road trips, a counterbalanced hawk would be your best buy.

Isn't it the same deal with the Hawk? i.e. 80/20ish?

Isn't the templar engine counterbalanced too?
