Engine dies after full throttle run, TT250
Hey all,
I recently put in a new jet kit and fixed up the carb and air intake on the TT250, but I've been trying to get the fuel mixture just right. I thought I had it, but now the bike is dying Everytime I do a run on full throttle. I notice it always dies after I climb a hill on the road where I have to use full throttle. I figured it was too lean so I richened the carb via the needle, but it's still doing it. Am I still too lean? Or am I running too rich from the get go? Thanks guys Edit: I should note, it's when I let go of the throttle after the hill when the engine dies. Last edited by Huntsman911; 05-21-2021 at 02:19 PM. |

insufficient fuel flow, your petcock is your main jet

Petcock is open, I'll check the main jet. It should be bigger than stock with the jet kit upgrade

How does the fuel hose between the petcock and carb look? That's what he's talking about, and there's potentially crap blocking the petcock from within the tank.

Like the others said, check for fuel flow. If the line isn't kinked, try disconnecting it and let it flow into a gas safe can or jar. Let it flow for a couple minutes. If it slows or stops, then remove the gas cap to see if it's a venting issue.
If could also be a low float level setting in the carb. The aftermarket carbs I've gotten havent been even close to correct. Last but not least, if you're still running the stock spark plug, they have been known to have fouling issues. Good luck and let us know what it was.

Even more important, what does it look like right after it quits.
