I'd really like to take a GL1200 for a spin. Beautiful machine.

Car opposites in the driveway.
The Wing would probably be nice with the Kansas wind.

Nice looking bike! I'm amazed you didn't get it on the road right away!
There's something that happens to a guy around 40 years old and over he just wants to ride more and be uncomfortable less. That's why God invented the Gold Wing.

Good observation on the cars, Kato.

Nice bike! I'm loving my 86 like crazy, I've been riding it every day since I got it, rain or shine. Think I've put about 3000 kms on the old girl already

Gorgeous bikes the Limited Editions, the only Gold Wings except the new ones to have fuel injection
And you even get a cool trip computer to play with on that one . How many miles do you have on it? Last edited by MICRider; 06-27-2013 at 08:29 PM. Reason: Wrong word, oops! |

Ahha Yes Picture of the other side of the driveway. The prius belongs to son of recracer ,fresh out of college and a good start in his career . i think he veiws computers as we do our machines . caddy suv for the wife and a yellow toy for middleaged and crazy. Well when i got this Goldwing $200 I was fast in whats broken about it . Needed A battery ,then a starter . Then it Started and ran on the right side only . I was thinking oh no broke a left timing belt , tore it apart to find the belts intact ,but i replaced them anyway . At this point i did not put it completely back together, as it still needed a left side fix . i found the crankcase full of gas and being a auto mechanic eletronic fuel injection i should be able to figure out . turned out that the map sensor (vacume sensor) line was dry cracked . It has 2 sensors left and right ,replaced all the vacume lines . changed the oil and then ran on all 4 . but not long as the charging system was not working . After long internet browsing , i found these are pretty bad for stator failures . i did all the test and found the stator was bad along with the normal burned connectors all the forums had refered to . I decided to take another route outlined in the goldwing forums . An external alternator .

Did you buy the poor boy conversion or make it yourself? The stator was done in mine a couple of years ago but I'm keeping an eagle eye on it! $200 is a steal, even if it needed work, now you've got yourself a bike that you can go anywhere with

Did my own setup on the alternator . I had no idea why i would ever want to ride an 800lb motorcycle . i was completely unaware ,having only riden light weight bikes . i have only been to work and back once . As long as i am moving i am great ,legs are a little short to be comfortable with stopping and getting my feet down on tilted or uneven surface . Along with having no idea the benifits of theses bikes , needed tires and pulled the back end apart twice to seal a diff leak. With viva projects and megelli projects,to much time at work and family it stayed on the back burner . all that needed done to finish it these past weeks was reworking the front fairing around the alternador and repositioned radaitor . Its a 28 year old baby 18000 miles
