I use a "Blaze-on". It is an organic thing tucked inside my cranium. No options and poor memory, but self powered.

I've used a number of them. Right now it's Gaya. I can map a route and then either use the Gaya app on my phone to follow it, or load the GPX file to my Garmin and follow it from that. The garmin is a bit more convenient to me as it's waterproof. my phone not so much.

Interesting. Something I've never really thought about. My habit for some 45 years now has been, "Hey, I wonder where THAT road goes." Whole different style of riding I guess.
