sZongshen Sierra 200 running funkey
Brand new 60 miles:
Throttle response is very slow. Twist and it is slow to respond and recover. Just no snap to the throttle. Going up hill is slow! Im thinking lean as it does not pop when quickly twisting to WOT but is slow to build RPM's. Been a while since diagnosing bikes and could use some opinions. Plug color to come in the am! |

double check your throttle and choke cable routing. i had an issue where the fuel filter was binding up on the C shaped cable guide on the carb

also another thing... this may sound silly.. but remember the choke is OFF when its switched toward you... I made that easy mistake because the idle was not adjusted correctly when i bought the bike.
The easiest way is to get the bike warmed up, switch the choke toward you (OFF) and it should idle at a nice smooth low idle. If it revs when the choke is in the off position the idle needs adjusted down. When the choke is turned on when the bike is warm, the bike will die. |

This is most likely fuel, so check all the basics. If there is any chance that you got some bad fuel, check your filter. Make sure you have enough gas in the tank. Look for a kink in the fuel line. Make sure you have no water in the small bowel on the gas valve. Make sure you have some type of vent on your fuel tank.

when I first opened up and started my Zong, it ran just how you described it, until I moved the C-clip in the carb, Ran perfect and throttle response was what it should be. Fixed mine, just a thought ? What is your elevation as well ?

Sorry been in the hospital.
Anyway nice white lean looking plug! Wasnt there a link about moving the c-clip somewhere? Oh DesertRider im in issaquah wa ;-) WHere exactly are you? Would be cool to meet up and talk dual sport. ALT: close to sea level. Also what about a louder pipe for saftey without a jet change? Anyone have luck with that? Or cutting open and moding the stock pipe? I have a plasma and mig so Im not scared! |

I recommend moving the C-clip, your elevation is not far off from mine, it will make the world of difference in how it run's. A real white plug, you are obviously running too lean, need more fuel. Check my build up -->http://www.chinariders.net/modules.p...ewtopic&t=8058 I have added a FMF exhaust, and it is the best mod I have done to date. I don't think you will be able to get away without re-jetting though, opening up the exhaust more will cause it to run leaner yet, so you have to add more fuel to counter what you have done, it is VERY EASY though.

b) It's been over 100 degrees for about 10 days now. c) It's a 'dry heat' FWIW

So now I am up to a 140 jet and have a nice hearshey bar looking brown plug. But still have some ping's at high rpm's. "137 was still a little grey on the plug, so the 140" Ordering a pipe asap I think I need more taper in the end of the metering rod as well. If anyone has the FMF jet kit with rods ping me and I would like to buy a few rods to play with.
Going to 142 "stock yamaha jet for this clone's yamaha counterpart" next after pipe change. 8O |
