How cold is too cold?

You have to get lower than 25 degrees, I can tell you that!

Roger, John (a new friend, hard core Montana-ite, can't freeze those guys...), and myself spent the whole morning and most of the afternoon enjoying our bikes, the countryside, and each other's fellowship.

It was 25 in town, and likely much colder on the top of the hills, about 1,000-1,500 feet higher than town. That's where the ice fog was.

We are having a strong inversion. Cold, dry, cloudy, but warmer above the cloud layer. Kinda sucks but anything except snow I can live with, for a while at any rate.

John and his brand new Honda XR-L 650. Nice bike!

John and Roger. Roger enjoyed his KLR, and the electric gloves that plug into it. 8)

Dualsporting into Benton City, Washington.

Funny what they call a city, maybe 500 people.

Coffee and lunch at the Tumbleweed Saloon. The waitress (cute  ) there knows us as the crazy guys who ride all winter.

It was in the high 20s, low 30s (Faranheit ) last week on my morning commute to the prison here in the desert. Many layers of clothes, and it was bearable.

Thanks for posting the photos, Doc. With a bone stock XR650L, John needs to modify that bike! Tell John to install a wider, XR650R C/S sprocket before he strips the countershaft splines.

That's wonderful, Doc. Incidentally, my $95 oil cooler performed superbly last year; I'm very glad I installed it.

Cool pics! (Literally!)

Good to see you guys getting out riding even though it's cold out! Dunno if it's just me, (probably is) but does Roger remind anyone else of Randy Quaid?

Dumb question of the day; save me the Google. Who's Randy Quaid?

He's an actor. Personally, I don't note a resemblance between Roger and Randy Quaid.

He is the brother of Dennis Quaid, and Randy Quaid played the lovable goof Eddie on the movie Christmas Vacation.

Lol, okay, it's just me then
A few pics of Roger when he was smiling just reminded me of Randy Quaid for some reason... Meant as a compliment, Randy's been in a lot of good movies

I agree Doc, 25 degrees beats 95 degrees in my experience. I have found it best to seek out some single track that keeps your speed down and body movement up for the most pleasure.

Exactly!

The physical workload and less wind chill keeps you comfortable, as long as your hands and feet are warm.
