NUTS! Muffler fell off UPDATE
1,300 off road km. No jumping or abuse at all. Oh well. We'll see how the 'warrantee' works out. In the meantime I made a repair. We'll see if it works. JB Weld and rivets.

Harborfreight has a mig welder on sale for about 80 bux. You can fix it in 10 minutes.

Owning a welder is one thing, knowing how to use it is another. I should get one. With all the work I do it would be a useful skill.
Sunny Sports is sending me a new muffler! They say it will be 2 weeks so hopefully my repair will hold for the mean time. I rode it a bit today and it seems OK. Can JB Weld take the heat? I seem to remember that it can. M, thanks for the kind offer. it was a great plan B.

Mine is cracking around the welds but has not fallen off. Welded it up over the weekend , not sure if it will hold, the metal is paper thin. Thanks for posting pictures, i may add some rivets to take some of the load off the outer can now that i know there is something underneath.

Glad my pics could help Bug.
I think since this does not seem to be an isolated failure I'll plan on an aftermarket upgrade down the road...

The repair did not hold. I was on a 100 mile ride yesterday (yes, my butt is sore) and it fell off at the 1/2 way point. The repair failed, but the other connections held to get me home.
I fixed it for good this time. I used some of the heavy steel strap from the shipping crate it came in to form a clamp around the pipe and then bolted that to the frame. This should be permenant. This is the method I'd recommend to anyone with similar problems. Bill

You know that the correct fix is bailing wire.

Bailing wire was my first choice, but I thought that the cheap Chinese steel from the shipping crate it came in would work better with the cheap Chinese steel the muffler is made out of.
