A Chinese motor that isn't a unit motor? I've never heard of that, except on a two-stroke.
Or are you describing a GY6-style CVT? That's a scooter motor, and yes, there's gear oil in the back. I used Castrol Syntec 75W90. Do you have a pic?

Don't see a pic yet...
Try uploading your pics to http://photobucket.com It's free (and a little slow).

Nope, that's only telling us where the photos are on your computer.
You can't upload directly to the site; you need to use a third party host (Flickr, Photobucket, etc). Once you've uploaded your pics to that site, you can then link to this one. Make sense?

Just go to http://photobucket.com, enter your user name and password, and click on My Albums. You should see your photo.
Just hover the mouse over the photo, and you should see four options pop up. Left click once on HTML Code, then right click on HTML code, and then choose Copy. Go back to China Riders and right click in the message you're typing, and click paste. Done. All of this is easier with two browser windows open.

That's definitely a GY6-based CVT. Yes, you need gear oil in the back. There are two plugs; lower for draining and upper for filling.
