2017 Apollo RX250 Mods and upgrades
I wanted to do an update with pictures of the Apollo. Last weekend I installed Bridgestone BattleCross X30 tires, with new heavy duty tubes. I also replaced the rubber strap that goes around the inside of the wheel to protect the tube from hiting the spoke fasteners. Since the bike was apart I measured the suspension linkage to raise the bike. I also made an attempt to replace the rear shock with a 1990 KX125 rear shock, and it was a fail without modifing the bike. I ended sticking with the stock shock, and backing off the spring collar to soften up the rear a little bit. Since the swing arm was raised so much, I did have to drill a new hole for the lower chain roller. New seat height is about 37" from the ground to the lowest part of the seat.
Here is a list of everything I have currently done to the bike: - CRF High Bend Tusk handle bars - Protaper Crossbar bad, with Protaper pillow gripps - Yellow spoke covers - 2017 Honda CRF230 front fender - UFO brand - Bridgestone Battlecross X30 tires 80/100-21, & 100/100-18 - Heavy duty Tubes front and rear - Mikuni VM26 Carb w/27.5 pilot, & 120 Main jet needle clip in the middle - NGK Iridium spark plug - Shortend suspension linkage - Rear sprocket 52T - Custom made - PBI brand - 530 Oring Chain unibear brand Last edited by Douglass; 03-10-2019 at 02:03 PM. |

Let us know how that linkage works with the stock shock. I did a mod on mine that works really good so far. Have to do a little more testing before posting all the technical stuff. Did it without modifying the frame and such. Your bike looks great! What do you clean it with? Mine looks dirty even after I wash it.

From what I can see ,you have the clip on your master link backwards ,that is assuming your pictures of it are oriented correctly .

Nice bike!!
Do you have a pic of your new vm26 carb? That chain roller is not under spring load, right? |

Looks super nice! Do you know if an exhaust for the 230f will fit on it?

Do you think this one would fit on it? Just based on your experience with the bike

You just have to use a ratchet strap to compress it a little bit while installing and drill a hole further down for the lower bolt

It is in the correct orientation. That is the lower side of the chain-going back to the rear sprocket)... The open side of the link is trailing, which is correct.
