Gy6 or Lifan 168 (LF161QMK)

Looking at 2 different 200cc scooters. One has a lifan engine the other is listed as having a gy6 engine. What is the better choice between the 2 in terms of reliability? I’ve heard Lifan engines are fairly reliable. Thanks for the help.

Having a Lifan engine is one of the reasons I bought my scooter because I've had such good service from Lifan engines, but that doesn't mean other manufacturers aren't good. Lifan also sells engines without the LF engine number so even without the LF in the engine number it still could be made by Lifan.

Interesting. So I guess I wouldn't know if it's a Lifan or not. Sounds like they are the same engine probably.

Which scooter are you looking at?

BTW GY6 engines have become somewhat standardized so parts for any 161QMK will likely fit a different 161QMK.

I have the Clash. No problems for over 3000 miles. With fuel injection the gas mileage is better and more dependable. Easy to start in the winter.

I like the adjustable or changeable handlebars and the front rack on the tank.

I took a 150 mile ride on the Clash today. Perfect ride on the West Cascades National Scenic Highway. Got better mileage than usual. The flashing fuel warning came on at 118 miles indicated.

I ended up ordering the Clash. Hopefully I get a good one like yours. Fingers crossed.

Well good luck with your purchase... I've been having a few issues with my clash and getting parts or a shop that can work on it is hell where I am in Va.

Quoting myself from my review of the Clash;

"As with all Chinese bikes I do not recommend them to anyone not willing and able to do their own maintenance and repairs, or at least have a shop nearby that is willing to work on them."

No, but very close. I see the plastics are slightly different but otherwise it appears to be the same. Same Lifan LF161QMK engine.

I'm asking because the Saipan can't be registered in Pennsylvania. I was also looking at the Venom KPV150.

Can't get one from Xpro? I assume you've tested the stator to make sure it's at fault. Burned coil? Short circuit? Might it the same as a GY6 150?

Vitacci parts are available from Vitacci but they want a pic of the scooter, pic of the part, and the VIN#. Don't know if they'll sell parts for an Xpro even though it's the same.

For Vitacci parts send a text to 857-703-6009. Send vin#, pic of part, description of part, pic of scooter.
