Doing some work on my Bashan - Storm
Hi there -
It has been awhile since I have posted. Last summer I purchased a Suzuki and rode that until it broke. It broke at 5,500 miles, and so that is parked. Then, I decided to get out my Bashan and start tinkering with it again. I have about 5,000 kms on this one. My goal is to fix some issues with it, because I let it sit for a while, because I didn't want to mess with it. Now, I have a ton of parts on order and waiting patiently for the parts to arrive. These are the things I am installing: -Installing a 295mm Rear shock. The shock on the Storm is too soft, so I want a little stiffer and I found a shock which fits and is adjustable. -Installing am IMS folding shift lever. I will also be making a custom CNC one of these with a different pivot-head; should be pretty cool. -Installing a universal top luggage trunk. Need somewhere to store some stuff during riding. -Installing a CDI, performance coil, spark plug: I have looked online and have not really found much info on these things, however, I am going to install and see if I these little CDIs make a difference or not. -Installing a 30mm Air filter. I have wanted to change this airbox out for a while. -Installing a Sportbike hand grips -Installing a Tube canister. This is not the same burrito tube that Motocheez uses; I wanted to do something different. -Installing these russian saddlebags. I found some totally awesome saddle bags from this selling in Russia, which seems to be the best saddlebags I have ever seen. I can't wait to get them. -Installing these CNC headlight brackets. If I stay with the stock front panel, then I won't need these, however, I have ordered these and will use them to install a 7" headlight. -42t & 47t rear sprocket. Going to see which one makes it perform better. I heard the 47t does make it have some additional top-end. -Clip-on windshield. I wanted to have a little something extra to block the wind. -Installing H4 bulbs versus the cannon bulb which came standard. I am sick of dealing with the headlight harness burning up and the bulbs burning out. For some reason, every chonda bike I have had has had headlight bulb problems. Easy fix: H4 and LEDs. -Installing saddlebag supports. These are for the saddlebags I current have. -Installing a new Helmet lock. I wanted a better quality one. -Installing an oil cooler. I have seen alot of people do this on YouTube and decided to install this. Just in case I decide to take a last minute longer ride before winter sets in. -Installing wider foot pegs. These have already come and I installed them. These are way better than stock. Dang. I wish I would have known about these before. -Installing a new tachometer/Speedometer. I am using the universal 3" one that is readily out there. -Installing a new universal LED tail light. Sick of bulbs. -Installing Carb jets. I am currently working on this now. I am also having a custom-made CNC brake lever made for me to change out the stock one so I have a pivot head. So, that will be cool. The other thing I have been thinking about is changing the tire sizes since the stock is 19 (front) and 17 (rear). Maybe changing them to the hawk (21/17) sizes to be able to get the tires I want. I would like to install some Shinko 700s. I haven't gotten a chance today, but I will post some pictures of my progress a little later. I might upload some to my YouTube as well. Thanks, Warren

That's an impressive list of mods; I'm looking forward to your progress.
What type of Suzuki do you have?

Love to see bags / speedo install
Love to see bags / speedo install. Would a beefier ground strap prevent fried headlight wire? Or all wires need a bump up most likely to handle current flow. Careful with the cdi box, i've heard people frying their wires with these as well.

Indeed - I am nervous to hook up this generic CDI that I bought. Its quite a bit bigger than the stock one, so I don't know.

Hey that is awesome. Indeed I live on the north side of cities. Thats pretty cool you got a bike. The Broz is similar to my Bashan Storm. They are like sisters. The cousin (in my opinion) would be the Hawk.

A few of the parts -
Here are some of the parts which I am installing. The oil cooler, the speedo (which is just the generic one from ebay or amazon), and the shock. For the shock I am going to have to use some washers as the end is 25mm on the stock shock and is 20mm on the new shock. I will also replace these bolts with new grade 5 bolts from the store.

A couple of other pics -
Playing with the idea of installing this 7" headlight. I am looked at different ways to mount this. I have a few ideas. I am sick of the bulbs and the constant burn out of them. So, H4 LED should work out fine.
These grips have been awesome for me. I am thinking they have been the best ones I have used. I don't cramp up as much and they are pretty inexpensive. Plus they look cool. The hub spacer (or insert) was stripped out when I took off the sprocket, so I had to look the UK to find the part. CSC did not have it believe it or not. I am sure the HAWK has a similar 4-bolt pattern, but could not find these inserts on any USA sites, nor have I received emails back from these companies who claim to have parts.

Foot pegs -
Here is an example of the foot pegs. I wanted wider ones versus the stock skinny ones, or even the aftermarket ones. I read somewhere or saw on a YouTube video which talked about wider foot pegs, and thought that was a great idea. I found that the standing ability was enhanced and it felt better on this bike. No slipping and no rubber grommet.
Maybe some of you folks will like that idea as well.
