2008 110cc Boulder b1...no go
Hello, I just picked up a well loved tao tao Boulder 110cc and got it running, but occasionally when riding it after slowing down it doesn't seem to want to take back off again, the revs are up but it just doesn't seem to "go" then after I push it a bit it takes off again, any ideas?

Hi Kottkamp44. I have been visiting the site for a couple of years but in no way an expert. In fact just registered the other day lol. If the B1 is an automatic then it probably has a torque converter drive. On the engine side there is the variator. With engine rpms the pulley widens and narrows. On it runs a belt that connects it to the transmission clutch that is a pulley that also narrows and widens with load put on it. If the variator sticks, the belt slips or the clutch hangs it may not go. VMC chinese parts site probably has everything needed to fix if something broke. It could just need a belt replacement and if so get the Gates brand belt not chinese brand.
Sorry I just realized that engine may have the single stage centrifugal clutch on it so none of the above would apply. If it does the clutch is probably slipping. Last edited by pug398; 05-04-2022 at 11:02 AM. Reason: update |
