Doh! Confused, Need Help

Hi everyone, I'm new to the site but have been reading and trying to gain as much knowledge from here as I can. I received my first ever motorcycle about a month ago, a 2023 Bashan Bsr 250 Raven, bought new from Powersports Max. I'm want to upgrade/replace the stock carburetor but have no clue which would be better for my Raven. I have no other modifications. I try and do my own mechanical work I just know very little about carburetors and basically nothing about the jetting and such. I'm in Ga at 658ft elevation and would really appreciate any advice on a carb that will be easiest for me to install and tuned for a better riding experience. I start CDL training class in about 3 weeks and need my bike running better than it is with stock carb. Any advice I can get I will be forever thankfully for.

You won't be any more experienced to jet a new carb. Chances are it won't have the right jets for your bike. Either way, you need to buy jets. Why don't you buy a complete set (like $10-$15) and learn about it with your stock carb.

Keep in mind that a new carburetor won't change perfprmance. You would need to do other changes to intake/airbox, exhaust system, even head work (porting) and possibly a long duration cam. Then, a new carburetor might make a difference.

Here is some info from working on the Storm carb

You might have these two piece pilot jets (Had them in my Bashan Storm)

Here are additional posts with photos opening up and working on the carb that comes with the Templar X (a couple of years ago, probably haven't changed).

Follow the links to the carb work.

Take your carb out, grind off those breakoff screws that prevent you from getting in there, and see what kind, and what size jets you have. Go from there. Different motorcycles may have different type of jets. And drill out the airscrew cap (another adjustment prevention you can bypass)

Thanks for your help. I'll sit down this evening when I have more time and go over all the information in the links. I have a friend right down the road from me that maybe will help me get into the carb so I can see which jets I have and I will order some new ones and switch them out. Hopefully then I can enjoy better riding.

That's what I used on my 250cc magician, works great and has for years.

You'll also want a jet kit for it.

that one would probably work.

Use your best judgement, I am not familiar with that specific bike, I'm a magician expert, good with the hawk, anything else and it's a toss up.

Measure your carb to verify the size before ordering anything. Or maybe someone else with one can chip in.

If you can't find exactly what you need then maybe consider getting a set of drill bits and opening up the one you've got.
Obviously that's a one way street since you can drill them out bigger but can't go back down but it's an option
