HSUN quit and will not start

Came home today and decided to take the bike out for a spin. Left the house drove about 3 blocks on the road, turned into the woods started up the hill, took a wrong turn on the trail, pulled in the clutch to stop and turn around, heard a very small backfire and the bike would not start. Thank goodness it was mostly down hill back home, only had to push the bike a couple hundred feet.

Checked for spark- had none. Pulled the bike apart and visually checked the wiring- seemed OK. Am i safe to assume the CDI went?

Very possible, but check the idiot items. Did you bump the kill switch on the right handlebar. (Yes, I have done this.)

Another quick fix can be the spark plug itself. They can foul easily.

I hope it's a quick easy fix. We have the same bike, and I'm always going off road, alone, way out there. If the bike puked on me I don't even know how to tell my buddy where to come get me. I'd rather not ride alone, but my riding buddy is down with a hip replacement right now.

Keep us appraised.

Thanks for the tip, i tried the plug before i ordered the CDI. I hope to get a chance tonight to put a meter on the coil, would also like to check the crank sensor but I'm not sure how to do it.
The CDI is $15 delivered, did find them shipped from Hong Kong for $7 delivered. If it turns out to be the problem i will probably order a spare as i almost always ride alone too. I was very fortunate to have it quit where it did.

If it was your problem I might empirically replace mine.

Bug,

I'm still waiting on the CDI I'm supposedly getting under warranty to see if that is the probelm with my 3 week old bike. Do you mind naming the sources you found for the CDI. If it is the problem I want to order some extras as well. If I have to replace one every 19 miles I'm going to need a cheap source.

Thanks

Here is the link for the one from Hong Kong. 1/2 the price but was concerned about shipping time.

Thanks Bug.

I went ahead and ordered the one from Hongkong, according to where I bought my bike from it will be up to a week before the warranty one will even be processed. It will be a race to see which one gets here first. Let us know if it cures your problem as yours sounds exactly like mine.
