4° timing advance flywheel key.

Yep, us southern Ohio rednecks are at it again

4° timing advance flywheel key from Henner Motorsports. It's well worth the money, but dont think the install will be easy. The flywheel doesn't want to come off and we eventually had to wrap a ratchet strap around the legs of the puller. And you'll be disheartened because the original key fits so tight, and the offset key fits even tighter, but it does work. You're best off to start the key fitment and then let your half inch impact seat it when installing the flywheel
Results: amazing throttle response, powers thru every gear much faster, and added another 5mph to 4th gear. Even changed the exhaust note.
Cons: it's harder to kickstart, and will kick back about about 1 out 4 tries.
Opinion: Run, dont walk to your computer/phone to order this!

I can't claim this was my idea because my good friend Jerry already did It to a CB, but I think im the first with a CG.

@TheChairman Contact Joe Henner at his facebook page, Henner motorsports, he is very responsive. he also has a YouTube channel if you want to see his videos about this advanced timing key or the Orion RXB 250 which he has also done extensive mods too, all the mods should also apply to a Brozz, etc.Cams, big bore kits, etc.

Thanks, I will.

I have a TT250 and I'd like to talk to him about what he thinks he has that might interchange. I got the bike just for tinkering and doing things I not should so that sounds like a good resource.

Joseph Henner is very responsive and friendly. I just let him know this morning that his flywheel key does indeed work with the CG engine.

And we had to put a piece of flat bar on top of the flywheel bolt because it was almost impossible to center the puller, because the back of the flywheel is rounded.

HaHa, You used the same method i used. I Jerry rigged it. I had ordered a fly wheel puller but took to long to come in. When i finally received it they had sent me the wrong one. Now i'm waiting for the right puller to come so i can do the Hawk.

Great minds think alike..

Nah, the ratchet strap idea was stolen directly from your YouTube video..

The TT250 is a CG engine and not the same as the CB. The engine on my X22R and Orion RXB 250 are CB engines which parts like pistons, cylinders and cams are interchangeable with the Honda CRF230F engine. I'm sure a few other parts are interchangeable as well. The 4* flywheel key is one of the best bang for the buck mods. It really wakes up these little motors. The best mods for your engine will be the timing key, porting and decking the head and a PE30 or PWK30 smooth bore carb and of course a good free flowing exhaust which i think you've already done.

I used one like this on my Hawk and worked perfect but not a guaranteed fit.https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01FAGIS7U...v_ov_lig_dp_it Seems the frame on my 2016 hawk is slightly different than the newer bikes. Herbie had sent me one along with some other parts and worked perfect. You might want to check with him and see where he got it from.

Buy the proper tool - super easy and not expensive - check with Megadan for links

I checked out the vendor's YouTube last night and it looks like he is putting together "kits" to buy. I was going to start piecing things together but once I talk to him and see what this entails I may just wait. I'd much prefer to just yank the motor and throw it on the bench and handle it all at once than constantly do in-frame teardowns for new stuff.

The more I read here, the more I realize what a good idea it was to buy a bike with a CG engine. The dummy dull simplicity is what makes modification fun. The dirt cheap parts make the mistakes much less of a problem.

I bought the same one Megadan used, he went through engtaoboa.com, I bought from them as well as from Superbuy.com. Superbuy was a little faster at the time. With these coming direct from China it might take a lot longer now with everything that is happening with the Covid thing. It's the figure 6 one carburetor connector.

Man you guys are lazy. JK. I used to do this back in the 80's. I raced go karts. 5hp briggs. When briggs went to electronic ignition, it didn't take us long to start fiddling with it. I would take some key stock and a file and make my own. THEN I figured out that the flywheel key was only to locate the flywheel. Once the nut was tightened, the key does nothing. The taper fit is what holds it in place. Once you know this, your timing is unlimited. I never ran a key again. Used a degree wheel and timing light. Just letting you guys in on racing secrets.
