PKW 30mm hoses
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Alright - I got a new carb. One I haven't seen anyone post about; the PWK 30mm.. there are quite a lot of hoses I'm not used to having. I have some pics if anyone would have an idea on where the hoses go.. Here's a shot of it: https://ibb.co/9sbH2H2 Big 50mm filter port - got an adapter for 51mm - 38mm to fit my stock air box on: https://ibb.co/nfDvcJC 30mm intake port - had to get an adapter: https://ibb.co/tM3XN4y And No. 4: https://ibb.co/BrJhRm9 Now, on to those hoses.. In the first pic, you can see the the fuel line - that was easy to spot. In the 4th pic though, that's where it gets kind of confusing. There are two hose connects that are open, but I'm not so sure what I'm supposed to be using there. Or, do I connect a small tube between the two?.. They do route to the filter side, if I hook a hose up and push some air through I can feel / hear it coming out one of the air filter ports. The bigger one seems to open and close with the float somehow.. If anyone knows, I would greatly appreciate info on this. I haven't been able to find anything on Google either. I don't want to connect those together and have something stupid happen, or leave them off and have it spew gas everywhere lol

Picture #1 The one with the hose is for the power jet, the other one is not for the fuel line it is for the vacuum line just like the other in pic #4.
That pwk should have come with few hoses, one of those is to link the vacuum lines. |

Yes, did come with 3 hoses. The one definitely is for fuel though; has a straight shot to the bowl. Did not come with paperwork - I'll take a few more shots of it opened up. It's definitely a knock off lol but not the same setup..

The Fuel line is the one that's bigger and is near the air intake. If you put a fuel line to the vacuum line, the carb will flood, since it doesn't have a float valve and it will be quite messy to clean all the fuel. These chinese pwk are all the same, the changes you will find between these fake pwk are the jets they use. |

Gotchu' - I think I understand a lil more - connect the two on the sides with one line? Then as usual the one on the bottom for overflow? first one with vacuum lines and all - sorry for the ignorance! lol

I have them connected with a T joint, that's because i had that carb on a 4 stroke that had a hose that went to the chassis for the vacuum line. But if you don't have that, then you should just connect them without any joint. PD: https://photos.google.com/share/AF1Q...1CYnR0MGNmZXpR |

Awesome, thanks man!
I'm looking for an intake manifold that has the same angle as my stock one with a rubber boot... I'm not too sure of the space on the bolts though - I measured bolt to bolt centers at ~62.5mm.. but the angle is gonna be the hard part, mine is angled out towards the left side of the bike; all the Hawks I've seen have their carb pointing off the the right side of the bike.. if that helps lol And how do you like the carb? Supposed to kick it up a notch in power apparently.

I'm not sure if you can tell, but that's from the right side, the manifold kind of angles down and to the left. I have found a good many, but definitely not sure if it's what I need, and bolt spacing. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08G1JRH2M...dDbGljaz10cnVl That's what I'm not sure that would fit..

Due to the power jet it was a bit hard to jet the pilot,as soon as i gave a little twist to the throttle, you could see fuel going to the power jet. About fitting sadly it's trial and error. |

You can cap off the two ends for the power jet and eliminate that circuit and tune the carburetor without it. Power Jets are intended more for 2 strokes, which are more powerful and responsive in the middle to upper throttle ranges when they are a bit leaner on the main jet, but can potentially melt down at WOT from said leaner tuning. The Power Jet was developed specifically to increase fueling in WOT scenarios in order to allow the leaner main jet tuning while also giving them the added fuel during wide open to get the best of both worlds. On a 4 stroke, it doesn't really do a whole lot, especially since 4 strokes are way more forgiving of jetting variances.

Gotcha - makes sense about 2 / 4 stroke differences. Would there be any harm in leaving the power jet as is; or would that make things worse / harder to set the carb up? And the vacuum lines - I've searched about a million times and I see lots with the hoses just vented to nothing. Or is that another 2 / 4 stroke difference? Thanks for the information too man!

On most PWK style carbs there are 3 or 4 hoses usually in play. The first you know, which is the power jet hose between the bowl and top inlet of the carb. The second is the larger fitting on the lower part of the body going to the Bowl. This is the one you felt being affected by the float. The float and float needle are there to regulate fuel flow into the bowl to maintain the bowl level. The last one (or two) hoses go to the fittings higher up on the carb body, behind the slide. Those ports are there for the bowl vents and/or overflow.

So that = no, correct? Just plug the hoses on each one and vent separate? I'm very disappointed I got no paperwork with this thing lol

It's quite simple actually. Those are the two vent hoses I mentioned. Should have one hose to each one that just points down toward the ground. Often these are setup crossing over the top with a clip that holds them together.

I just thought I should confirm, was pretty sure they vent separate. Thank you! I'll see how this thing does when I get the other parts to install it. Had to put the cold start handle back on already with epoxy - the top red piece popped off could clearly see some super glue holing it together lol..
