How to test CDI?
I have that CDI. I need to confirm it's good...how do I test it? Then, I'm wiring it into a bike with no wiring harness. Ground, trigger, and coil I got figured out. Do I need to leave a kill switch lead in? I would like to avoid that. AC Ignition power...is that just 12v in? Thanks |

okay the AC ignition in actually wires into the engine. When I crank the engine over I get a little under 1vac. Is that an acceptable incoming voltage?

For all intents and purposes they are not readily testable. At only a few bucks each just replace it with a new one (good to have no matter what) and see what you have.

Well I still think I have a weak(ish) stator, but it runs now.
Problem is actually the wiring harness. I wiggle it and it works. I pulled the whole thing apart looking for shorts and breaks and found nothing. Some of the wires are brittle, though, which means there could be breaks inside. It's a Lifan 250cc vertical cylinder engine. Where can I look for a good wiring harness? |
