engine codes
trying to figure out the motor in my quad..
done some research and it seems that lifan motors marked 163fml are 200cc motors where as lifan engines marked 167fml are 250cc.. im looking into buying a 250cc motor but dont want to end up buying the same cc motor that i have now.. my stamp on the frame of the quad says its a 200cc with a max power output of 10kw but the motor is marked 167fml.. Chonqing Sayin trade Co is the company that makes this atv, any one know where i can find out any other information on the motors that this company or kayok makes ? kayok is a sub division of Chonqing Sayin trade Co.. |

I'd send a PM to forum member Oengus. He's done extensive research on these things and probably knows the answer, but not sure if he trolls the ATV part of the forum.

Be aware that some "250's" are actually 230cc's in size.

gio sells a zongshen 250cc motor 5spd with out reverse for 485usd and then another 60ish for shipping.. if that does not work out with getting it through customs, then i will look into something else.. lifan has a dealer up in dallas called americanlifan so i might give them a call about tracking down a 250cc lifan

That’s a Yamaha type engine? 167fml 196cc and maybe it is bored out to larger displacements?
Sorry about the previous response…. I hadd not read your thread yet…. but if it is stamped with that 167fml then its that or should be that type engine and yeah its possible they modify it up to larger displacements but I would think that it would have something that would be added to it like a letters or number? What is the VIN on the ATV, that will identify who made it. The zs167fmm is 229cc the first two letter signify who made it, they commonly call it a 250cc but it is not. Thats the engine in the GS250 sport bike. the zs167fml is the engine used on the 200gy and its 196cc |

The zs167FMM is a CB engine OHC Honda type.
The zs167fml is a Yamaha engine same as in the TW200. OHC The 163fml is offered in both CG (OHV) and CB (OHC) and if they are LF163fml then they are Lifan engines. Lifan does not make a 167fml that I know of….but Zongshen makes a 163fml. |

maybe these people can help
http://www.motopartsmax.com/index.ph...ehicle/vID/457 I am going to guess that the 167fml is bored out to 229cc and they call it a 250cc. Spud is very familar with that engine, he just rebuilt his top half. |

I would assume that a 196cc version would be more durable then a bored out version of it? I see both 200cc and 250cc ATV’s stating a 167fml engine. The 250 is a bored out version to 229cc I would say….
That probably does not help much does it? Whats the issue with the engine? |
