Problems with 200 GY.

Hey guys, I bought my 200 GY almost a year and a 1/2 ago. I've had some issues and want some help fixing the problems.

First things that happened were..

Flat Tires - ( replaced with new 1s @ honda shop )
Fuel Line cracked and leaked (bought new 1s at lawn mower place )
battery broke
kickstart barely works( was like this from start )

anyways so.

How do I get my kickstart to work properly? ( it goes like 1/2 way back with out much pressure at all; dunno if that has anything to do with it )

and..

where do I buy a battery?

The battery is easy. Wally World, cycle shop, or auto parts place for a small cycle battery. As for the Kick start, Mine works fine. What do you mean by it "barely works" Does it turn the engine over? Is it recoiling properly? Is it not engaging? Is it not turning the motor over fast enough?

Also with the battery, if you received your bike in a crate, the battery is normally shipped dry and you must fill it with acid.

the battery was shipped dry, but after a crash i broke the cage / leaked out the acid . and as for the kick start.. well.. If i do manage to kick it over its after 30 minutes of kicking ( dry )... i found its faster to just put it in 2nd gear and roll down a hill and clutch it... is this normal for kick start?

i was using 93 grade unleaded. It sat during the long winter and I went to take it out today and I found alot of stuff wrong with it.

Oh yeah and I replaced the old fuel line with one of those clear green 1s ( probably used on weed eaters ) was a tight fit but i got it with the help of some needle nose pliers

Just started mine via kick. First start of the day with no choke and it fired up on the 3rd kick with a cracked open throttle. Now mind you my carb has been tuned and it's 75 degrees outside. As for carb tuning, my needle clip is on the second from the bottom groove and the mixture screw is set for 2.5 turns. Bear is mind that I'm at 3500 ft altitude and your setting might be different. The instructions pertaining to this tuning can be found at http://www.chinariders.net/modules.p...showpage&pid=3.

With that kickstarter, does it go about halfway without engaging? So if you try to kickstart it, you only get the engine to turn over a small amount with every kick?

yeah.. like say the first 1/2 of the kick is weak compression.... like maybe 2 lbs of weight will take it back 1/2 way, then it takes twice that to go the rest of the way. so it starts of weak and then it finnally tries to turn over every few kicks but it wont start.. maybe carb?

Some Honda were known to have this problem, I just sold a trail 110 not long ago that did the same exact thing. I assume since this these engines are honda clones that they cloned some of the problems too.
You may want to try a google search for honda kickstarter problems.

At least pull the plug and check to see how it looks. The statement you made about there being a lack of compression s a bit disturbing. Mine (200cc pushrod) has hefty compression. Just measured and it takes about 35lbs of pressure to move the kick lever once the compression stroke has started.

Have you checked the adjustment on your valves? Many times the valve train on these bikes is set with too little or no clearance between the rocker and the valve stem, which can lead to a loss of compression.
