The Scrambler version does look nice. Depends on what you need, Scrambler vs normal Himalayan.

Cheesy is the WDK (workplace drama king). Now retired. Nope, back in the saddle. Nope, finally retired.

It's a cool looking unit, but I just can't do it, like all of the RE's. I like the idea RE is building bikes. I wish them the best, but they have a serious issue in my mind.

A bike that's over 400 pounds, over 400cc's, that doesn't even put out 25hp, and costs just south of 5 grand, doesn't check one box for me. I have yet to see the novelty in these, besides just being "something different". I do hear they are quite reliable though.

Other than that, it is a cool looking bike (so it does check one box?). I'm happy to see some of the late 60's-early 70's styles come back into fashion.

The way RE does things, we in the US will see a new model, or model year upgrades, one year after the rest of the world. For example, they came out with the 350 Classic last year and we just now got it. Same with the changes to the 2022 (in US) Himalayan. The rest of the world got them last year.

Agreed on the lack of power of all RE bikes. Their main drawback for the US, with its fast highways. The Honda and Kaw 300s are better bikes for most people. But they do fill a niche. I have zero interest in huge heavy cruisers like Harleys and all the Japanese copycats, but lotsa peeps seem to like 'em. If I got a RE for just tooling around, it would be the 650 Interceptor. Don't need modern power; it's just about the experience for me.

So you don't want to borrow my goldwing, huh?

I like the 650 as well. why do the 411 motor when you can go bigger.

I like the Himalayan. MSRP for a 2022 is $5300. I contacted my local dealer and after dealer fees and destination charge, it's over $6k. I can't really justify that much for any bike, since they're basically just toys.

Yeah, I'll pass.

The 650 with 47 hp is enough for highway use, and I love the old-school Britishness of it.
