Engine size

I pulled the engine out of my son's Taotao Coolster 125. To learn that it's a 110, not a 125. The bore/stroke and engine id all show 110cc. I am purchasing another engine for it. The id number shows FH157FMI. It is supposed to be a 125cc, but the id shows 1, single cylinder, 57mm bore.. Any ideas if the engine is a 125 or a 150? It looks like A Lifan engine. John

The I at the end of the number indicates 125cc class. It could have a 57mm bore be an over-square 125. Some Chinese engines are incorrectly labeled as is the 171FMM engine in my Taotao ATV.

I though 52 was 110 (52.4mm actually), 54 was 125 and 57 was 150. A 152fmh would be a 110. 154fmh would be 125, and I have a 150 with the engine labelled 157qmj.

I has two 157 FML's and they were 150's. Great little runners.
His is a 157FMI and as Mudflap says, "I" dictates that it's in the 125 class. I wonder what the stroke is???

I will find that out when it gets here. I want to put a big bore kit on it, if it is a 125.

I think I may have found some spec for the engine. 56.5mm bore with the 49.5mm stroke.

engine size

Hello... yes TAOTAO went to the 110 cc to save some $$$ and they have to be EPA.. it says on the tag on the vin number attached to the plate... as well as the engine number on the head... maybe easy to get another motor... the 150 is the gy6 style,... completely different motor ... I think the 125 cc motor has more power as it is not cvt drive...
