Make your 250cc bike sound like a Harley!

The Black Wombat Skyteam V-Retro (Raptor) 250 gets it first customisation.
It now sounds like a Harley!!

Would this be bad for the bike? Would it be best to at least have the outer shell of a muffler on the end?

Indeed, you'd likely need to fatten the mixture with a larger main jet. Removing the muffler leans out the mixture.

Sounds great, but i expect the engine to have lost a good amount of torque and running culture, enough to eat up the weight advantage, the cool look and the great sound.

Of course a two-stroke engine is even more depending on exhaust layout, but also a four-stroke engine could react in a rather unwanted way to exhaust changes. But if your instant Harley is still running well (maybe after rejetting) it was worth the try. Did i already mention that it sounds great?

btw, today is my last day of my vacation, and i spent the last 5 hours with your traveling videos i came across on http://www.overlander.tv/ and http://www.barefootmystic.com/ this morning. Great combination of entertainment and wisdom!

I put the muffler back on. Went into a harley shop and saw straight pipe bikes. The guy there said they have to adjust the jets to get the mix right. I'm thinking maybe an after market muffler without the baffle could be the go.

Weather is warmer here, did a night cruise on the freeway, still only doing about 80km's doesnt seem to want to give much more

you could try a silencer for a ktm 2 stroke 250...

thats what i did...its pretty straight forward, and i found the silencer for $50 used...so it can be fairly cheap too...

Re-jetting is quite easy, especially with the right carburetor. I like the 30mm Mikuni, which is typically $40 on eBay, including shipping from China.
