Need some help guys, Spud

For the Yamaha 1981 400 Special II:

I need a flasher unit. The ne I tried from auto parts store does not work, and a new one from bike Bandit costs almost $200 8O !

Nothing on eBay that matches.

Its a 3 blade unit Much of the info is rubbed off the case but what I see is:

NI------DENSC
N-------257CD
12.8V----5c/m
27WX2+3.4W
061300-5551
Japan
DOT A 3944

The '----' symbolize rubbed off and unreadable data.

Any leads guys?

Don't feel bad. I was mounting a light bar (retro mounting) on Big Dave's Victory Kingpin last week.....did everything exactly as it should be done and cooked an ACM. (Auto-Cancel Module) for the blinkers. 300.00

I'm about done with free wrenching.
Post a pic....i'll nose around.

What about this:

I tried cleaning the contacts, etc, the old one is good for maybe one click and that's it.

I'm very surprised the auto parts store flasher unit did not work, Doc! I think an electronic flasher unit from either NAPA, or Auto Zone should work well for you. I would bring the Yamaha flasher unit into the store, and have the clerks match the terminals for you. If an electronic flasher unit will not work, I would buy an LED flasher unit from Rocky Mountain ATV.

It is a Nippon Denso unit. That will at least fill in the first blank.

I have an '82 in my shed (400 yamaha-ha "special") in bits...just say the word and I'll look (it may take a day or two, it's buried).

I'd love it! Thanks!

Don't look just yet. I'll see if the Autozone unit works and let you know.
