Question Apollo 250 AGB-36C Assembly Questions

Hi! I recently joined this forum and wanted to introduce myself and ask a few questions regarding the assembly of my newest Chinese bike an Apollo AGB-36C.

I found this black device hooked up to a hose under the bike, but the end that's not attached to the hose isn't connected to anythjng. It was just hanging like this under the bike. Looking at the pictures I have uploaded, I also found this other piece of tubing that has a plug in it and I was wondering if this could be where the other end of the black cylindrical device plugs into, or if it is supposed to be like this. I have included some views of the specific engine that is on mine as well as a picture of the entire bike. Could someone please help me understand what this is? Thanks

The tube that is connected to the black cylinder is connected to a small silver box towards the front of the bike circled in picture. The clear tube is connected to another black cylinder labeled "DAF" the two other tubes connected to the other end of it are as follows.. 1) a black tube connected to the bottom right side of the engine (approximate location shown in picture as small blue mark) 2) another black hose connected to the front/top of the air box. I hope this helps!

That's all EPA smog stuff. It won't hurt performance, just look funky. It lets in fresh air (from the airbox tube) at heavy throttle to help the cat do its job to burn unburnt HC's. I wouldn't remove any of it unless you pull your cat. On the flip-side, if you pull your cat, make sure you plug all of that off or it will send fresh air to you muffler packing (since the cat is now gone). Picture a hair dryer on a charcoal briquet. The packing will burn up way faster.

Nice OHC motor you have there! That's a very nice Apollo!

Thanks. I appreciate it. So I should just leave both of those hoses the way I've shown and just hanging under the bike? If so, I might zip tie them up somewhere because they came hanging right against the front sprocket and I was worried about them getting caught in the chain.

So, I can't seem to get the thing to start. Well, it will turn over fully choked with the throttle at 3/4 turn and then quickly die and even gettting to that point is hit or miss. I do have a Mikuni clone for it but I wanted to see if I can get the thing started as is first. That hose that's not disconnected to anything is driving me a little crazy as it just hangs down and you would think it wouldn't be like that.. any ideas? It is cold tonight 37° F currently but it should still idle once it turns over. Thanks for your help.

Thumbs Up

I finally got the damn thing started. I remembered another post that I saw on this forum where a guy had a battery issue. Mine came with a really cheap POS battery. Even though mine was showing the correct voltage, I swapped it out with my sons ATV battery and voila! I did also find somewhat of a kink in the fuel line from the fuel cock to the carb.. which could explain the issues that I was having too. It's freezing out right now (at least for a southern guy) so I let er idle for a good 5 minutes before I took er out for a slow an easy 10min ride. I'm going to let it cool down and change the oil again in the morning. Thanks for the help, I don't think I would have bought a Chinese bike if it wasn't for the knowledge I saw on this forum first! This is a great resource!

I have that same contraption on my daughters UTV. I contacted the dealer and they said that is the way it is suppose to be. I just zip tied it to the frame so it wouldn't flop around.

That is a NICE bike. I've always been a fan of that bike and never owned one. But I thought the Apollo 250 came with the same push rod 229cc CG motor the Dual Sports have. Its nice to see they have an OHC motor. Hmm I may have to finally get one of them.
