Also wanted to let people know more info on the TaoTao TBR7. First off , like most people here i had ridden bikes for many years but have not had or ridden in 15 years. I did not want to spend a lot of money to find out i can no longer ride or no longer enjoy exploring on a bike. I am mechanically inclined and can fully appreciate the build quality of Japanese vs Chinese bikes. But like many of you decided on a new 2019 china bike that i can make my own vs paying 3x as much on a japanese unit or an unknown used bike.
I went with ( took a chance on ) the new Tao Tao TBR7 from texas powersports. I know someone with a hawk but why i went with the TBR7 is as follows: *The tires ( nobbies are great but wear out real fast on asphalt getting to and from the trails ) * the factory handguards( not the best quality ) as we have lots of scratchy / thorny bushes and small trees ( clipping a cholla cactus or a mesquite bush is not fun )( already paid for themselves). * the color and looks * the price $$$, paid $1310 delivered to my house. |

That's my cousin. Glad to be of assistance! It seems like you thought it all through really well before pulling the trigger, so unlike some of the guys that get into these your expectations are right where they should be. Once you get it sorted out it should be a good bike. The TBR7 is kind of an interesting mix of parts. Specifically if you took a Brozz and a Hawk and made another bike between the two. Rear drum brake, 19 and 17 inch wheels, and the traditional forks.
